ASUS A7N8X nForce2 Technology Review In-House
When reviewers finally got their hands on VIA's KT400 they realised that it hadn't done what it set out to do and it left a gaping hole in the market just waiting for someone to fill. NVIDIA clearly think they're up to the task but have they got it right second time around?

So how can I sum up? Well, I believe that nForce2 is currently the fastest socketA motherboard on the market though not by as much as perhaps some had expected and provided you're prepared to invest in the extra memory needed to make use of its 128bit DualDDR architecture. Along with that speed comes stability and a feature set to best just about anything else you could lay down your money for. I'm concerned at not being able to test AGP 8X fully and a touch disappointed at the asynchronous memory performance dip but taken in the balance of things they don't deserve to stop nForce2 from being a huge success.

Fortis Monster 90 & A93 CPU Coolers
It has been a long time since I've heard from Fortis Technology, but that just changed as they are back with some new CPU coolers! Fortis sent over two of their newest coolers; the "Monster" 90 and the copper A93. The Monster 90 is definitely well deserving of it's name as it is one of the biggest CPU coolers I've seen! This is a very unique cooler from top to bottom and I'm anxious to see it in action. As for the A93, it is much like many of the heatsinks we saw hit the market last year. It uses a thin copper fin design that has been well proven over time.

Dual Cold Cathode Light Kits!
Today we have another new product from PCToys.com, Dual Cold Cathode Light Kits! These light kits are similar to earlier kits we have seen, but these have dual lights along with some modifications to make them better and safer to use. The PC Toys Light Kits come in four colors; blue, green, red and UV (black light). The red, blue and green lights are very cool, but the UV light kit can be used with glowing products like rounded cables to give the inside of your case an alien like appearance. Check out these light kits here on ClubOC!

MSI Hardware Roundup
So what makes up a budget system today, compared to let's say 6 months ago? What would be some ideal components? Well, today BlueSmoke hopes to shed some light on those questions. Their opening statement couldn't have been timed worse!

When we talk about maximum performance, in the AMD world 333 MHz bus and memory speeds tend to pop into my mind at first. Well, as of yet AMD has yet to release a 333 MHz FSB verison of the very popular Athlon processor, but the motherboard chipset & memory manufactures have released both memory and motherboards that run at 333 MHz. So what kind of performance gains are given when you run the memory faster than the processor FSB?

PCExtreme X-Case Giveaway
Dwayne over at PCExtreme sent word that he's decided some lucky reader is in line to win their X-Case. Even entering sounds like it should be fun! Hop over and take a stab.

Free stuff is always good. Free cases are even better. How about a free case with custom window? For October, I though it would be cool to give away my X-Case because it's pretty scary looking. Solid black case, charcoal gray buttons, and a side window in the shape of an X surrounded by hex screws. To make it even more evil looking, I am throwing in a UV CCFL (black light) and a UV sensitive rounded IDE cable! All you have to do to win it, is register in our forum and then tell me why you want/need this case. The most complelling story wins the case, the CCFL and cable. It's that simple! .

Modding the ABIT IT7-MAX2 for Improved Clocking Review
Since Tech PC posted their ABIT IT7-MAX2 DDR Motherboard and ASUS P4T533 RDRAM Motherboard Comparison Review last week, the reviewer Gibbo of OcUK, decided to push the ABIT IT7-MAX2 Motherboard even further by modding it using a volt mod.

In my initial testing of the ABIT IT7-MAX2 I was only able to get the processor upto 2800Mhz stable, which was mainly due to the motherboard only supporting up to 1.7v, which gave an actual voltage of 1.63v. So I decided to take things a little further with the IT7-MAX2 as I knew it was capable of more. I started out by obtaining a modified BIOS which allows you to get the memory up to 3.2v. In testing I was able to get the memory up to 2.98v actual, which is a decent 0.2v improvement and will aid gettings those memory speeds that little bit higher when overclocking.

ATI All-In-Winder Radeon 9700 Pro Preview
Rage3D are sniffing out the new AIW Radeon 9700 Pro. Sounds like it should be one desirable piece of kit!

ATI has been doing the impossible lately. Critics have said that a fully DirectX 9-compliant graphics card was impossible on a .15u manufacturing process. ATI proved them wrong with the Radeon 9700 Pro. Then they said it would be impossible to create an All-In-Wonder variant of the 9700 Pro. Today, ATI defies them once again with the announcement of the Radeon All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro – ATI’s new flagship product.

Sapphire Radeon 9700 Atlantis Pro Review
And staying on the Radeon 9700 theme got apex? are looking at the Sapphire Radeon 9700 Atlantid Pro.

Sapphire Technology Limited may not be a household name, but they are one of ATI's authorized OEM dealers, supplying ATI based boards across North America as well as the rest of the free world. They have their own factory that is begining to pump out Radeon 9700s to eagerly awaiting folks willing to burn the cash on ATI's ground breaking card. Initial cards, as with most other venders, were actually produced by ATI, but Sapphire now has their own factory crafted design, the Radeon 9700 Atlantis Pro.

Leadtek Winfast TV2000XP TV Tuner Card Review
Tech PC have just posted a review of the Leadtek Winfast TV2000XP TV Tuner Card.

The card itself is quite compact and so will not cause any problems due to length. The tuner on the card however is quite bulky so if you were to use it in a computer with all the PCI slots being filled then a little rearrangement of the cards maybe necessary to allow it to fit in properly. Once I had found the right PCI to slot it in the rest was easy. It was a very nice fit into the slot and I didn’t have to push overly hard to seat it properly.

XP Voltage & Multiplier Mod
Monster Hardware has posted a XP Voltage & Multiplier Mod article. This method is especailly useful for owners of budget boards without many overclocking options available to them.

The diagram displays a virtual XP CPU and bridges, the black lines are the bridges that must be shorted in order to increase the voltage and multiplier by overriding the internal settings. I intend to increase the CPU from 1533MHz to 1750MHz or XP1800 to 2100, an increase of 217MHz including a 7MHz FSB increase allowed by the BIOS.

3DGPU Editorial: Picking Apart A Recent Aniso Filtering Analysis
Paul Sullivan does it once again with a new editorial this week on 3DGPU. This time, he looks at a recent article ExtremeTech posted regarding anisotropic filtering from NVIDIA and ATI. He gives his thoughts and views on what we should get, and why.

Extreme Tech put up an Anisotropic Filtering Analysis a little while back and have updated it since then to correct some mistakes that were made during the course of the initial article. To make it clear, hey - mistakes happen - none of us are immune, and I don't fault them at all for that. I'm glad they posted updates to clear things up, though I do wish they had included a few more Anisotropic comparisons in games. Overall, I really liked the article and appreciate the work that went into it very much. It helps many of us to get things clearer in our blurry little minds, and I genuinely thank them for it.

Samsung Plotting Global Domination!
Okay so maybe that's a slight exaggeration but here's three reviews featuring Samsung products!

Samsung CD-RW, SW-240

Right now, the SW240 is selling for $65-$70 USD on price watch. This is slightly more expensive compared to other drive in the $50 range. However, if you look at feature wise, the SW-240 has a better price/value ratio. Also remember the 8MB buffer and buffer-underun protection when considering the price factor. There really isn't any cons to this drive. It is fast, reliable, well priced and comes with a good set of features out of the box and support every type of CD that there is out there.

Samsung MP3, YP-700H

The Samsung YP-700H MP3 player is definitely an impressive product when it comes to raw features and functions. Not only does it include a spacious 128MB of built-in memory, but it also provides support for SmartMedia cards to facilitate for storage space expansion. Throw in a voice recording function, support for playback of both MP3 and WMA files, a built-in FM tuner and a wired remote control, and the YP-700H is like the Swiss army knife of MP3 players.

Samsung SyncMaster 171MP

It's nice and sleak and compact. The 171MP is well build and sits solidly on it's stand. Subjectively, the screen looks sharp, crisp and bright at it's native resolution of 1280x1024.
The 171MP is a sleek and sexy monitor that performs well. It's got almost all the features I look for in a monitor.

Vantec Copper Round IDE Cables
Round IDE cables are popular for one reason. They look better that flat cables. If you're the messy type, they can also assist in case cooling. ViperLair take this one.

Let's get a couple of myths out of the way about rounded cables. To begin with, they do not improve access speeds to your hard drive, or do anything for performance, in fact, poorly designed rounded cables can be detrimental. Secondly, they do not do much for case cooling if you're neat about cable management. Well, I guess I kind of contradicted myself there, as they will help if your cables are dangling all over the place, blocking airflow, but all it'd take is some tie wraps and some creative routing and you'll be fine.
