Interview with Scott Thirwell, Marketing Director, ABIT Taiwan
After a bried stint with DFI Scott Thirwell settled back into his comfy chair at Abit. OCworkbench are firing the questions.

In your opinion, which is best selling mainboard for the past 1 yr ?

The year is not over yet, but by the end of the year the MAX2 boards will take over as the year's best seller. Right now the Intel-based IT7-MAX2 and the AMD-based AT7-MAX2 are both within 5% of each other in terms of sales. ABIT listened to our users and added the PS2 back to the MAX2 line and with that sales have increased in a huge way!

Silver Winview Case Review
DeviantPC has just releaed a review of the Silver Winview Case. If you're looking for a quality off-the-peg pre-modded case this is one for the shortlist.

In today's world it is not just what is on the inside that counts, its how the outside of the case looks as well. More and more people have been getting into modding over the last year and it was inevitable that case modding would become commercialised. Most of the pre-modded case market is based around expensive, already available cases, with factory made windows. It is nice to see a reasonably priced case entering into the market, but is the Silver Winview case worth the money? Well that is what we are here to find out.

Vantec Aeroflow VP4-C7040
They were so impressed with the AMD Aeroflow, they've decided to try out the Pentium 4 counterpart. ViperLair have the story.

Previously, we only managed a 156FSB overclock using the all aluminum stock Intel cooler, and unfortunently with the Aeroflow, we didn't get much of an improvement. At 157, the system was stable in all benchmarks but 3D Mark. At 156FSB, things were rock solid. What is important to note that at full load, at 156FSB, the stock cooler managed 68C, whereas the Aeroflow kept temperatures at a steady 66C.

Matrox Parhelia Review
Its been 6 months since Matrox announced their latest graphics processor, the Parhelia-512 GPU and Beyond3D figured it was time to see what, if anything, has developed since the launch of the Parhelia.

The initial round of web reviews didn’t paint Parhelia in an entirely positive light because it’s gaming performance wasn’t quite there in comparison to NVIDIA’s GeForce 4 Ti 4600, and certainly not in comparison to what ATI had in store a few months later. Was this lack of performance purely down to a relatively new drivers and a little development might show a healthy difference? What else sets Parhelia out from the pack? Where is it aimed at now?

Epox Nforce2 and 2700+
The inquirer get in on the review gig with a look at Epox's nForce2 part. Looks like being a contender!

The Epox 8RDA+ is the first board from Epox based on the Nforce 2. The 8RDA uses Crush 18, one and one only Nforce 2 SPP Northbridge and the Nvidia MCP-T South Bridge. Even though it's an MCP-T board it uses only the Nvidia LAN card and AC 97 sound and has USB 2.0, two Ultra ATA 133 controllers and two Firewire ports.

Video Card Titan Duel
XSpcs open the arena doors as the Radeon 9700 Pro does battle with the GeForce Ti4600.

Today I will be looking at, and comparing, the top 2 available video cards in time for christmas. I am talking about the Ati RADEON 9700 PRO from ATI and the NVidia Geforce 4 TI4600 from Asus. One assumption that people wrongfully make these days is, NVidia is top dog because ATI can't produce stable drivers. This is a misconception that is clearly stated with ATIs new line of CATALYST drivers. ATI is really making a push to offer the highest quality drivers and features for all of their products. So what are we waiting for, let us take a look at the cards!

Seven 3D Graphics Boards Compared
Four Radeons and Three GeForces square up for a performance battle over at ExtremeTech.

Most 3D graphics coverage on the Web focuses on one thing, and one thing only: who's the fastest. What often gets glossed over is that many top-end 3D cards cost more than twice today's game consoles. That's a lot of clams, and as we all know, clams don't grow on trees. But mangled metaphors aside, what we've got for you today is an update to a story we ran a while back about the GeForce 4 Ti series of cards.

4-LED Fans Review
OCIA checks out some of those cool 4-LED Fans in their latest review. Just a note, never plan a long plane jouney sat beside someone who starts a sentence with "Fans... one of my favorite things" ;)

Fans... one of my favorite things... but what can you say about them? Fans blow! Fans are pretty! Fan reviews seem redundant. I must admit though they are one of the few things in a box that provide aesthetic and utilitarian function and gee golly I like 'em. They're simple to install and can really change the look of your box. Fans have also drastically improved in look while not increasing dramatically in cost and therefore are one of the cheapest ways to add a little flash to your box. When playafly187 asked if I wanted to review some fans from Case-mod I said no problem. I like fans.

System Optimization Guide for Gamers
TweakTown has just posted what they're billing as a comprehensive System Optimization Guide for Gamers. Head on over and check it out.

As you read through the guide you may think some of it is a little obvious, or may be a little "untechnical". The truth of the matter is this guide is aimed at a wide audience, from people who have just starting using a PC, through to people who think Prof. Stephen Hawking is a nice man but a little dim.

SOYO KT400 DRAGON Platinum Edition Motherboard Review
Hexus have yet another motherboard review posted this time taking in the SOYO KT400 DRAGON.

SOYO have shown that they know how to present and market a motherboard. Even compared to some of its immediate competition, the KT400 DRAGON Ultra is the one that will most appeal to fans of aesthetics. Apart from the immaculate presentation, the layout of the motherboard is pretty good in its own right too.

Vantec Thermaflow 92 mm Case Fan Review
3dXtreme sent word that they've posted their Vantec Thermaflow 92 mm Case Fan Review. Here's a snip :

Lately we've seen thermally controlled products becoming very popular and for a simple reason really, users are tired of noise. When gaming or running the cpu hard it be necessary to have the fans in the case run at a higher speed generating more airflow, however when sitting idle or surfing it's not necessary to have this additional noise. Till now users were able to control this by installing a product like a Bay Bus which would let the user manually adjust the fan speed via a rheostat type knob. Technology in this area has evolved and now the fans are smart enough to adjust themselves eliminating the need for units like a Bay Bus to be installed.

SiS Xabre 600 Review
I think we've already seen that the Xabre 600 isn't going to be toppling and performance crowns but like its predecessor it's a lot of polygon power for the price tag. DigitalDaily take a look.

Xabre 600 is the first real chip manufactured on the 0.13 mk process technology. nVidia will produce GeForce FX on the same technology, and unlike the Xabre 600 the leader of the graphics chip industry will hit the retail shelves no sooner than January or even in February.
