DFI AD77 Infinity (KT400) - First Look In-House Review
DFI have always been renowned for the stability of their boards, a factor that has made them a big player in the OEM market. Though they admit the AD77 Infinity isn't quite ready for release yet we couldn't resist taking an early look to see what they'd achieved.

They may not be one of the big names in the motherboard business but I must admit to having a sneaky admiration for DFI. While other companies are hyping their products out of all proportions DFI go quietly about their business and while you're unlikely to find brightly coloured PCBs, futuristic North Bridge coolers or fancy accessories what you tend to get is a very stable board at a sensible price. We've reviewed a couple of boards from DFI and though none of them have been spectacular overclockers or particularly good lookers I can safely say we've never seen a bad board from them.

Albatron MX440 Video Card Review
AMDPower have reviewed Albatron's GeForce4 MX440. It's not made by AMD and it's not exactly bursting with power but it's a fine card for the right user.

So why a GeForce4 MX440 card? For most of us Linux users, we aren't looking for a video card with big balls. After all, Linux is not traditionally known as gaming environment (but that is slowly changing). What the GeForce4 MX series offers is a great upgrade solution for system suffering from video card woes. And it costs about 1/3 the price of the GeForce Ti series cards, and performs great under Redhat and Windows.

ATi Radeon 9700 Pro - Reference
Guru3D have had the chance to check out ATi's Radeon 9700, though like most European sites it was snatched away almost as soon as they got it.

In this preview we will not take an extensive in-depth look at the Graphics Core, no we'll focus on performance as that is what you guys want to know and that is exactly what this board was made for, believe me. Also, you been able to witness several reviews of this Graphics card where it produced breathtaking numbers. However, most tests and reviews out there used rigs based on 2.53 GHz Pentium 4 processors and basically all I've noticed where top of the line systems that even can't be bought in the stores yet. We will test the card on your average system, that means an Athlon XP 1800+ people. Furthermore we'll compare it to every known videocard of the past year and then will sum it up in a conclusion for you.

Lian Li PC-6087, PC-6089 and PC-6099 PC cases
The first up of two reviews today from Dan, Dan the T-Shirt man. Here he looks at three cases from the latest Lian Li PC-60 line.

Lian Li now have a line of "PC-60xx" cases that have see-through front doors, just like the Cooler Master products, but which also have a few extra pretty-features of their own. While, of course, retaining the Lian Li look and feel that many users, me included, have come to rather like.

ATI @ ECTS 2002 - part 1
UK Gamer interview ATi's Andrew Thompson primarily about ATi's Mobility Radeon 9000.

What is ATI's vision for the mobile market?
If you look at the trends we are on now, you will see integrated offerings to get extremely low power consumption, high efficiency in small form factors. We'll continue to push features and performance in the high end. It's a similar model to what we have in the high end desktop market where you bring the more expensive, fully featured cards and you try and move them down quickly into the mainstream market.

I think we will continue that trend.

Samsung Tantus LTM1775W 17 inch TV/Monitor
Samsung's Tantus LTM1775W 17" monitor is on the bench over at Futurelooks. Not exactly cheap but very classy.

After having a good chance to live with the monitor, I was very pleased with what it had to offer. It was simple to setup, which consisted pretty much of just plugging in the cables, turning the monitor on, and selecting your video source. Very simple to a regular television with multiple sources attached. Though for the price of this monitor, I would perfer a large widescreen television for my movie watching, and stick to a large CRT or a simple 17" LCD screen for my computer use. If you DO have the money, and can afford one of these Tantus LCD monitors, by all means get it. It does the job and does it well.

Geil PC3200 DDR400 and PC3500 DDR433
Active Hardware get to grips with Geil's PC3200 and PC3500. Previous reviews have not shown it performing quite up to scratch so what about this time?

Geil's DDR400 and DDR433 modules, for their part, come stylishly equipped with full-body copper heatsinks, and are delivered in a sealed package contained within a very solid acrylic coffer. This arrangement is, as you can imagine, very effective at insuring that the product arrives at its destination safely. So, with that said, throughout the rest of the article, we'll be testing Geil's two little speed-daemons for your reading pleasure.

Case Modding 101
MidnightCafe.com takes you step-by-step on its latest mod of a Chemming Tower Case and let's face it if you're going to mod a case what better case to start with!

The first step in wiring is installing the power supply unit (PSU), and running its cables. Server-type PSU’s such as this one typically come with exceedingly long cables, so finding a way to keep them tidy can be quite a challenge. Just remember that the more time you spend cleaning up the cables pays dividends later.

Lian Li T-3 and T-3B LCD Thermometers
Dan's Data take a look at two digital thermomters from Lian Li that unfortumately suffer from the same limited viewing angle problems that haunt most LCD products.

I tried both an ice slurry and some hot water, and the T-3s managed decent accuracy, and quite close calibration between the two probes, too. Down around freezing point, the temperature readings were within 0.1°C of each other; up around 55°C, they were still not more than one degree apart. That's about all you can expect from cheap digital thermometers - and, since there's no calibration control on the T-3s, it's what you're going to have to live with.

Thermaltake Copper Fan Grills Review
Tweakers Australia has just posted a review of Thermaltakes lastest addition to their ever growing lineup... the Thermaltake Copper Fan Grills.

The grills are made from a medium-grade copper, and are polished to a brilliant shine. As you should have already noticed, there are two different designs - the first one being a honey-comb type pattern, centered off with the 'Tt' symbol, while the second design has an outline of a mountain with the 'Tt' symbol appearing towards the corner as the sun. Each design is laser cut to precision, producing a quality effect.

One of these boards TweakTown has taken a look at today and it is their Apogee series 9EJL1 for the Pentium 4 platform!

Thermalright SLK-800 Review
Today Monster-Hardware looks at the Thermalright SLK-800. Its hard to find much not to like about this cooler, well except for the price that is.

It would be an understatement to say that Thermalright is on somewhat of a roll lately. With their last few products like the SK-6, AX-7, SLK-600. I would have to put Thermalright at or near the top of the air cooling market right now.

Thermaltake GeForce 4 Video Card Cooler Review
JT3 over at OverclockerCafe has finished his look at Thermaltake's copper GeForce 4 cooler. This cooler 'kit' fits the Ti4200, Ti4400, and Ti4600 GeForce 4 cards, and also comes with aluminum RAMsinks for both the front and back of the card.

Okay, we've seen what this cooling kit can do. If you'll remember my prediction, you can see that all in all, I was right on the money, except that I may have underestimated the performance of the HSF cooler. We got an amazing overclock of memory frequency by using the RAMsinks, and we saw evidence of a temperature decrease using the HSF cooler, even though it didn't help me overclock the core frequency any further. Don't you just hate it when you reach the limits of the hardware?

Compad Speed-Pad Review
It looks like the day has finally come that the venerable Ratpad has met its match. But even its newest competitor is very similar in design. The Overclocker Café looks at this new competitor, the Compad Speed-Pad.

The Speed-Pad is offered in black, translucent colors of blue, green, yellow, or clear. Having a choice of colors to choose from is always a hit around here. The flip side of the other Speed-Pads is see through colors don't work with all mice. Compad is very forth coming about this and has a compatibility list on their site here

Pioneer DVR-A04 R/RW CD-R/RW
ClubOC have a review up featuring the Pioneer DVR-A04 R/RW CD-R/RW. DVD burners are a cert to be the next big thing just as soon as the standards settle down a little.

CD burning has taken on a whole new meaning this summer. Prices of CD burners are at an all time low and the prices of DVD burners have dropped though the floor! Not just a few short months ago, a DVD burner would cost you about a month's pay. With DVD burners costing about the same price as a new video card, even the average Joe can afford one. I've been waiting anxiously for these burners to become affordable, not for copying DVD movies, but more for their massive storage ability. With each disk holding 4.7gb of data, normal CD burners are about to become obsolete!
