Chaintech ZENITH Series : 7NJS nForce2 Preview
|
|
VR-Zone
have posted a preview of Chaintech's 7NJS nForce2 board.
This thing comes with one hell of a supporting cast, let's
hope the performance is there too! Our very own shawn
flew over to Amsterdam on Friday for the launch of this
board and currently has his sticky mitts on it. Last I
heard he was in some cafe smoking grass and trying to
find the Dutch word for "hooker" ;) Expect the
review soon!

November 2002 Giveaway!!!
|
|
Mikhaeltech
are celebrating their two year anniversary in style with
a bunch of giveaways throughout November. First up is
a Xoxide X450 Aluminum Case!
|
|
After a month long hiatus (due to my first few weeks
of college being a bit rough), we're back to give away
more free stuff, forums related as usual. And just in
time, because November 7th marks our two year anniversary!
This will also be the day when we give out our first prize.
The rules this month are almost identical to those of
the previous ones (with the exception of the first week),
but please do glance them over. Failure to do so may result
in your prize going to someone else (if you win, that
is).

KDS CD Organizer
|
|
SubZeroTech
give us their thoughts on the KDS CD Organiser. They hit
a few problems along the way but nothing too drastic.
I must get myself one of these!
|
|
At first you would think the box contains a case but
in fact it's really just the fact that the CD Organizer
is really big (but light). It is nearly as tall as my
case but looks much better :) Along with the CD Organizer
there is a setup manual/diagram, cd installation, USB
cable and power adapter. Very easy to setup the hardware
just a matter of finding a spot to put it.

Ahanix Iceberg 1 Water Cooling Kit Update
|
|
OverclockersClub
have updated their review of the Ahanix Iceberg 1 water
cooling kit agter they found cracks in the reservoir.
|
|
I've had about three months to thoroughly test the Iceberg
1 water cooler. Is this cooler really all it's "cracked"
up to be? Let me begin by saying all of the parts had
being working flawlessly, up until a few weeks ago. I
had been testing the DangerDen water cooling kit and I
had this Iceberg 1 water cooler aside until I was done
testing the DangerDen. Well, I woke up the next morning,
after testing the night before, to find that the Iceberg
1 reservoir was only half full of water!

Tech PC Cooling Guide
|
|
Continuing
their beginners' guide series Tech PC have published parts
one and two of their beginners' cooling guide which cover
air cooling and water cooling, part 3 which is phase change
cooling is coming soon.
|
|
In any method of cooling you need a form of fluid to
rush past the CPU to take the heat with it (convection
cooling). With most computers the fluid is air blown by
a fan over the heatsink. In those more adventurous overclockers
looking for a reduction in temperatures, more speed or
less heat water is used. This is more of a technical challenge
since, as we all know, water and electricity dont
get along. For the most insane/rich/hardcore (delete as
you see fit) overclockers out there there is Phase Change.
Based on the same technology that keeps your milk cold
in your fridge, it is capable of producing temperature
well blow zero.

Xoxide Caffeinated Soap
|
|
Thought
you'd seen it all? Not yet you haven't! Overclocker Café
put some Xoxide Caffeinated Soap to the test.
|
|
Given the heavy opaque nature of the product, we wanted
to double check that this wasn't merely a soap plating.
To check this, we brought our Dremel out. Following a
partial dissection, we validated the reports that this
was solid soap rather than soap plating.

Vinyl Dye Guide
|
|
GideonTech
has a new guide up on using vinyl dye to colour your plastic
case components.
|
|
Vinyl dye is a type of paint that is used primarily on
plastics. The theory is that the dye is thin enough to
seep into the plastic and color it, rather than covering
over its surface. The benefits of this are that it won't
chip, scratch, or peel. It also means that you do not
need to sand, or to use a primer. This is because you
are staining the plastic, rather than hiding it.
