Abit Siluro OTES GeForce 4 Ti4200 64Mb DDR
It's bulky, it's loud and it brings with it questionable overclocking advantages but you have to hand it to Abit for keep innovating. ActiveHardware have their OTES Ti4200 64MB DDR on the bench.

Abit has a reputation for designing original products, and regularly surprises us with the quality of its innovations. That's the case we've been presented with again with the arrival of the Siluro OTES Ti4200 graphics card. OTES stands for "Outside Thermal Exhaust System", and is a concise description of the very interesting new cooling system that comes equipped on the Siluro OTES.

MSI and Gainward Ti4200/AGP8X
TBREAK are serving up a double helping of Ti4200 goodness as they tackle both the MSI and the Gainward flavors.

Both the cards have heatsinks on the core as well as memory, however, we think that the MSI one looks better with a copper plate and a clear fan on top. MSI also sticks some thermal paste on the RAM chips as well as behind the core as you can see from the picture which is definitely a very good thing. The heatsinks on the Gainward were very firmly stuck and since we have to return the card to the distributor we couldn't really fight much with it.

Samsung SW232B 32x10x40x CD Writer review
Alltechbox check out the Samsung SW232B, a compact size cd writer equipped with a 8MB buffer, JustLink and JustSpeed technologies and capable of good performance.

The unit is very compact, it's only 18,3 cm, and its design is roundish, very pleasant and typical of this manufacturer. Nothing to say about the packaging, it contains all you need to install the drive and start burning: everything is explained in a well-done user manual.
The programs bundled with the SW232 are Easy CD Creator and Direct Cd +, that are really simple to use and are therefore suitable for beginners while power users may prefer to switch to better burning programs.

Atechdigilog ADUFE35W External USB 2.0/Firewire Enclosure
BurnOutPC have been putting the Atechdigilog ADUFE35W External USB 2.0/IEEE1394 enclosure through its paces. This one of those nifty little products that's just too tempting to own..

Roommate always bugging you to use your computer cause YOURS is the one with the CDRW? How about sick of having to either FTP or email your work home with you on your lame ass dial up connection? Our friends over at Atechdigilog have a solution that is not only cutting edge, but not restrictive in any way. What we are looking at is a type of external enclosure that leaves you to decide what goes in it. Hard drive, burner, DVD you name it, if its on a parallel IDE connection, you can put it in here.

Soltek SL-75FRV VIA KT400 Motherboard Review
3dXtreme have posted their Soltek SL-75FRV VIA KT400 Motherboard Review. As with all the other KT400 boards the DDR400 performance is pretty grim.

While AMD is frantically working to produce their next generation CPUs, motherboard manufacturers have been hard at work doing what they can to move AMD users into the next generation by providing the newest features of the latest VIA chipset. The new revision of the VIA chipset has arrived, named kt400, and boasts some great added features. Alas the new VIA KT400 brings features like USB 2.0 support, CPU die thermal monitoring and AGP 8x finally enticing users of the aging KT266a chipset to upgrade.

Slipstreaming Office XP
ViperLair have overhauled our Slipstreaming guide, adding some new tips and additional info and solutions to integrating the latest service packs and hotfixes into Office XP.

The whole point of this exercise was to create a CD with Office XP with Service Pack 2. I know some may be thinking that this is a lot of work, but think of it in the long run. You'll now have a backup of your original CD, since I hear a lot of dubious stories like "I lost my originals!!", as well as a backup of your CD key. No longer will you need to apply Service Pack 1 and/or SP2 whenever you reinstall.

Anand goes West - November 2002 Industry Update
Anand's been on a treasure hunt and brings back a variety of news snippets from various parts of the industry including nForce2 costs and one line NV30 teaser.

It's rare that I do one of these first-person 'editorially' pieces but they do come around once in a blue moon. What inspires them, you may ask? Usually there's a handful of information that I've come across but it lacks any sort of common theme, there's just new news from all over the industry that I'd like to update you all on.

Speeze Heatsinks Review
TECH-PC grab a look at three sinks from Speeze, the 5R265 Skivestream, 5F263 WhisperRock and 5E070 CopperkingII.

As you would expect, a part that is required in EVERY PC has meant a substantial range of heatsinks and their combined fans has grown. There is a HSF for every application be it power cooling or silent cooling – and with a power hungry processor like the AMD Athlon the demand is even higher for efficient cooling solutions. Speeze supply solutions for a range of cpus but here we will be looking at a selection of Socket A coolers for AMDs Athlon XP range of processor.

Thermalright SK6+ Review
ClubOC take a swing at one of the original and still one of the best top drawer air cooling options for SocketA, Thermalright's SK6+.

Thermalright was one of the first manufacturers to get it right. Their debut heatsink, the SK6, was made entirely of copper and appealed to the majority of the AMD overclocking crowd, mostly out of a simple and effective design. The SK6 certainly wasn't a budget minded heatsink and i can vaguely remember that less than a year ago they were going for around $40. The SK6 rated high not only among enthusiasts, but with hardware review sites as well, mostly due to the fact that some of the best heatsinks from manufacturers like Swiftech, Kanie, Alpha, and others were actually at the same level or worse than the SK6.

Aspire Turbo Gamer ATXA2ESW Aluminum Case w/Front USB
OverclockersClubCanada has finished a review on the Aspire Turbo Gamer ATXA2ESW Aluminum Case w/Front USB.

A light case isn't just all that. It also needs to have enough room for all of the components that the user will install. Installation must be simple, and after installation, maintenance has to be a simple job, not having to remove both side panels and then going at it with a screwdriver. For the gamer, it's gotta be less time trying to fix something, and more time to have fun. Today I'm going to see how well the Aspire Turbo Gamer ATXA2ESW Aluminum Case stands up to these requirements.

Xoxide Laser Cut Fan Grilles
I think that only Dan could turn a look at some Laser cut fan grills in to a mini-epic. If you're looking for something interesting to finish off that big fan you've just installed then give these a look.

Since fan grilles aren't Space Shuttle components, and since you only see one side of them, it's acceptable to leave gunk on the reverse side. If it bothers you, you can grind it off yourself; knock off any bigger lumps with the chipping implement of your choice (this Biohazard grille was the only one I got for review that featured a slag-lump anywhere near as big as the one in the middle of the picture above), and then use some wet-and-dry paper to dress up the surface.

Jab-tech.com Quad LED Fans Review
ExtensionTech have been checking out some high power quad-LED fans from Jab-tech.

While I admit, I've never heard of jab-tech before. I just recently stumbled over there, and for one, was amazed by their low prices. So if you want to trick out your case, or need some supplies, head on over there. So speaking of jab-tech, today, I'll be looking at some Quad LED Fans from jab-tech. These are probably the fans you will want to put in your case, regardless of it you have a window or not. These really put out the light. Actually, it makes the blue cathode in my case seem very, very weak. Forget the cold cathode and do LED fan lighting? I think so!
