Dissecting The ATI RADEON 9700 PRO
|
|
We've all seen the tech reviews but FiringSquad have delved
a little deeper into the architecture behind the Radeon
9700 Pro. Those Intel adds are getting a bit obvious!
|
|
We felt that it would be interesting to take a close
look at R300, looking not only at the surface, but digging
deep into the technology. In this two-part article we
will first consider each of the 3D related technologies
within the chip, from there examining the performance
of not simply the whole chip, but each individual unit.

The I845PE Motherboard Shootout
|
|
The i845PE chipset is in the frame as boards from MSI,
Abit and Gigabyte get the HotHardware treatment.
|
|
By and large, however, the major addition to the new
PE chipset is official support for DDR333 RAM, providing
for more memory bandwidth and improved system performance.
Up for testing in the HotHardware labs today, we have
three motherboards based on the Intel 845PE Chipset from
some of the biggest names in the industry, MSI, Abit and
Gigabyte.

|
Although many people were expecting to see Creative release
their own graphics solution this Christmas as a result
of their acquisition of 3DLabs, Creative have denied having
ever claimed such a thing and their announcement of a
range of cards buil on ATi GPUs makes that look pretty
unlikely.

LCD Comparison, Part III: It's Christmas Already!
|
|
Tom's Hardware look over a round half dozen LCD monitors!
With prices in retreat there's never been a better time
to send a begging letter to Santa!
|
|
The second item of news is that Europe has caught up
considerably with the United States. In fact, it's doing
even better if you take into account the fact that US
prices are not burdened with Value Added Tax, payable
only on the other side of the pond. This means thtat European
monitors are sometimes less expensive than the American
versions.

We have featured their earlier product in various reviews

a VapoChill Mk2 Premium Edition in Titanium finish for

XP 2400 OverClocking Article
|
|
OCIA has posted up a quick article on overclocking the
XP 2400 CPU. Unlocking these puppies is as simple as closing
the last L3 bridge and with a little care you can do this
without even filling the pit by using a "
] " shaped line.

Pinto, Palomino, and Phen Phen
What do these three
have in common? They all once where the cream of the crop
until they got the ax. Remember the Pinto? Wasnt
that a nice little car? To bad it exploded whenever it
got rear ended. What about Phen Phen? Great stuff for
weight loss if you dont mind heart failure. Then
there is the Palomino. A fast little devil that required
a new fire extinguisher mod on the side of your case.
Now we have the new Thoroughbred "B" chip that
helps one of AMD's biggest weaknesses: heat. But just
having a cooler running chip wasnt enough for the
guys at AMD.

their North Bridge fan comes illuminated with a blue LED.
|
|
Today we're looking at one of Epox's KT400 boards, which
we received with much anticipation. The source of this
anticipation was an Epox announcement stating this board
allows the enduser to change the clock multiplier through
BIOS without unlocking your Athlon chip!

Beantech BT68 RH Enhanced Mobile Rack Review
|
|
ExtremeMhz has reviewed the BeanTech BT68 RH Enhanced
Mobile Rack. Wen it comes to portable storage your own
hard drive is a tough act to follow!
|
|
Mobile Hard Drive racks have been around for quite sometime
now. A majority of them provide the same basic functions.
They allow you to swap or remove your internal hard drives
quickly and easily. They are useful mainly for transporting
data from one machine to another. Some mobile racks however
offer extra features and can double as a hard drive cooler
as well. The BeanTech BT68 is one of these.

Crystalfontz USB 20x4 LCD (Model: CFA634-TMC-KU) Video
Review
|
|
It's what all the best dressed PCs are wearing whether
they need one or not. 3dGameMan train the camera in the
direction of the Crystalfontz USB 20x4 LCD.
|
|
"The Crystalfontz USB 20x4 LCD is the USB interface
version of their 634 model which means only one cable
and allows for easy installation. Also, with 20 characters
per line and 4 lines it translates into a lot of data
being shown at once. Their CrystalControl software is
easy to configure and easy to use. Watch the Video to
find out more..." ~3dGameMan.com
