Gigabyte's MAYA II R9700 Pro - Setting The Standard In-House Review
With the Radeon 9700 PRO collecting awards everyday, we put Gigabyte's version through the usual benchies and try to find out if this is the R300 to own!

once faithful nV partner, Gigabyte are now moving forward and building on the success of their R8500 part by releasing the Maya II, a Radeon 9700 Pro. With manufacturers such as Abit and Albatron doing well in the graphics sector this could be an essential product for a company that hasn't always been thought of as having the enthusiast in mind. Indeed, when we think of Gigabyte we think of stability over speed, features over overclocking and suchlike. However recent reviews have shown Gigabyte in a new light and this now just might be the R9700 to own!

Are You Ready? - Carmack Speaketh
Well, they're certainly not short of big name endoresments as John Carmack pimps the next NVIDIA GPU.

My current work on Doom is designed around what was made possible on the original GeForce, and reaches an optimal implementation on NVIDIA's next-generation GPU. My next generation of work will be designed around what is made possible on NVIDIA's next-generation GPU.

Akasa AK821 CPU Cooler Review
ModTheBox put the Akasa AK821 to the test. The quality is good but as we found when we tried it out the cooling is more mainstream in performance.

With all the excitement surrounding the new Radeon 9700 Pro it’s nice to take a step away from ATI and turn our heads back to NVIDIA, why? Cost is probably one of the major reasons, and rightly so. Today we are taking a look at one of Albatron's newest video cards, the Geforce 4 MX480, based on the NVIDIA MX440-8x GPU we see some promising features such as 64MB of DDR Memory with Lightspeed Memory Architecture II (also used on Geforce 4) as well, new too us, 8X AGP.

Epox offers KT400, Thoroughbred unlocked
The inquirer is reporting that Eox are offering a BIOS update for their KT400 motherboards that unlocks your Athlon without you having to touch it!

Epox has made it possible to have processors that are multiplier unlocked on AMD retail Athlons. This means you will be able to overclock your CPU just by plugging in it into the board, and then overclocking at will, because of the voltage and other settings Epox includes.

XtremeDDR DDR400 True
The fast memory is getting reviewed today. ViperLair kick us off and ask if XtremeDDR should be one to consider?

We finally reached the limitation with the memory running at 205. The system was stable at 205 MHZ, and was responsive to all commands. After 205 MHZ we hit a wall and could not continue. Limitations within the system were a definite culprit. The memory ran past its rated speed until the system prevented any further overclocking.

Corsair XMS3500 (CL2) Memory Review
DeviantPC has just posted a review of some Corsair XMS3500 CAS2 memory.

For Pentium 4s the situation is different. Moving away from the high bandwidth RAMBUS RIMMs, Intel have learned to embrace DDR technology. Although some may argue a waste at the moment, DDR chipsets for the Intel flagship CPU are maturing rapidly. P4s need high bandwidth, the QDR technology (Quad Data Rate) means P4s with a 533MHz bus have throughputs of around 4.2GB/s. If we take PC3500 DDR as the fastest memory around currently, that has a bandwidth of around 3.2GB/s. Spot the difference?

Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz with Hyper-Threading
The covers are off and TweakTown has just posted a review of Intel's latest Pentium 4 processor clocking in at 3.06GHz with all new Hyper-Threading technology.

The Pentium 4 processor at 3.06GHz is here and it certainly means business not only breaking the impressive 3GHz barrier but sporting a new technology called Hyper-Threading (HT). Wouldn't it be nice to have dual processing support from a single processor? Well in theory, at least, you can with the latest processor from Intel. Read on as TweakTown takes us on a discovery of the Pentium 4 3.06GHz processor to determine whether or not HT and a little extra core speed boast is worth our upgrading dollars or not.

Abit KD7-RAID Motherboard (Socket 462) Video Review
There's another helping of full motion hardware lovin' up for grabs as 3dGameMan admire the Abit KD7-RAID.

"The KD7-RAID Motherboard is an excellent choice due to its onboard 6 Channel Audio, LAN, RAID, USB2 and overclocking ability. The performance and stability is excellent as well and let's not forget this motherboard is very well priced. Also, it supports AGP 8x, however, currently there are no performance benefits when using an AGP 8x capable Video Card! Watch the Video to find out more..." ~3dGameMan.com.
