Chaintech Apogee 7VJL KT333CE Motherboard In-House Review
Reports of KT333's death are greatly exaggerated. Today we take a look at a motherboard that combines the stability and maturity of KT333 with the improved features of the VT8235 South Bridge in one very nice package.

With so many motherboards on the market most offering performance within a few percentage points of each other the clever buyer wants something out of the ordinary and Chaintech's Apogee 7VJL is certainly that. This is the first Chaintech motherboard I've had a chance to take a look at and if this one's anything to go by I hope it won't be the last. Let's take a run through the specs.

Prolink PixelView GeForce4 MX440-8X Videocard Review
Prolink's PixelView GeForce4 MX440-8X is seeing a little action over at PCStats who seem to conclude it's a card that's a little past its day.

Considering the number of times I've heard it, AGP 8X is certainly the new catch phrase when it comes to motherboards and videocards these days. Since SiS and ATI both enjoy the 8X AGP spotlight it would be a little naive to expect Nvidia to sit back and stay out of the party. Nope, Nvidia went back to the drawing board and tweaked both the NV17 (GeForce4 MX) and NV25 (GeForce4 Ti) GPU's to enable 8X AGP compatibility. Today we will be reviewing the Prolink PixelView GeForce4 MX440-8X; the videocard uses the new tweaked NV18 (MX440, 8X AGP compatible) GPU, and is backed up by 128MB of TSOP-II 3.6ns Samsung DRAM.

KT400 Athlon XP Motherboard Roundup
ExtremeTech have a six board KT400 roundup posted as they check out the ABIT AT7MAX2, Asus A7V8X, Gigabyte GA-7VAXP, MSI KT4 Ultra, Shuttle AK37GTR and Soyo KT4 Dragon Ultra.

VIA has been shipping new chipsets for the AMD processor line roughly every six months. Sometimes revisions, such as the KT266E revision of the KT266 -- appear even sooner. The KT400 is, in many ways, an enhanced version of the KT333 chipset, which was released earlier this year. This chipset now forms the heart of a bunch of new high-performance motherboards for AMD's Athlon XP.

MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR KT400 motherboard
HardwareZone review MSI's KT4 Ultra FISR KT400 and seem to have some info on the future of KT400 that I've heard nothing about so far. In fact last I heard VIA were simply using KT400 to make up some KT333 shortages.

Now that we know VIA will pull the plug on the KT400 and then remarking it as the KT333, it's useful to note that before that happens, the KT400 still remains to be the only VIA chipset that supports DDR400 and AGP 8X for the Socket-A platform. While that transition will happen very quietly, it's probably time to make the decision to get one of these gems before they are crippled. Of course, you can always wait for the much improved version of the KT400 which will be known as KT400A. However, if you're just planning to run the board with DDR333 memory and at the same time take advantage of the AGP 8X interface, then VIA's KT400 should be on your shopping list.

Argos GeForce4 Ti 4200 SE
Well it started out as a review of the Argos Ti4200SE until Guru3D discovered the infamous EKComputer had been rebadging SUMA cards at which point it turned to mass hysteria with comments like "EK Computer = Bunch of bastards!" and "Bastards Kill'em All!!".

Fact is and remains that they should have been open and honest towards this site regarding this matter. Of course a lot of companies are rebranding products. I mean, Creative's nVidia boards come from MSI. But they do not hide that, they are open and honest about it. This entire situation has left a really nasty taste in my mouth. We will no longer review or support this company as I can't trust them any longer.

GeIL PC3500 433MHz DDR Platinum Series Video Review
3dGameMan get their hands on a bisg stick of GeIL PC3500. I wonder if they should post it on to JEDEC?

The GeIL PC3500 433MHz DDR Platinum Series memory will not disappoint whether you are non-overclocker or hardcore overclocker who wants 433MHz DDR speeds and more. I was easily able to break the 433MHz DDR rated speed with excellent benchmark results. This memory is stable, fast, lifetime warranty and well priced. Understanding Bottlenecks
Viperlair take a quick and easy look at system bottlenecks. I guess I'm lucky in having a pretty current system as it means my system bottleneck is ME!

To understand how video cards work, almost all modern video cards need a decent CPU to go with it. If the video card is too powerful (for example, a GeForce 4 ti4600), and the CPU is too slow (a Pentium 2 266), the video card is wasted because the CPU can't deliver info as fast as a video card can take it. We're not saying that the video card won't be an improvement over an ATI 16MB Rage, but don't expect 300fps, that's for sure.

New Motion Combo Firewire & USB Converter Unit Review
TweakTown has just posted a review of the New Motion Combo Firewire & USB Converter Unit, a nifty little device that I must admit I didn't know existed.

High-speed CD-RW drive, CHECK. DVD drive, CHECK. Two speedy hard drives for unheard of storage space, CHECK. Brand new DVD-RW drive... whoops. More and more people are falling victim to the problem of no more IDE ports for peripherals. Too many new products are hitting the shelves that need these valuable resources, but most motherboards are limited to four devices. Come join TweakTown as they take a look at the New Motion Combo Converter Device. It tackles this very problem by utilizing your system's USB or Firewire ports. Let's see if it can tackle the demanding needs of a Power User!

Asus A7V8X Motherboard Review
More KT400 action this evening as OverclockersClub put the ASUS A7V8X under the scope.

A few months ago I bought a new Abit KX7-333R motherboard and it was one of the best boards out. However like always they come out with better technology the very next month such as the VIA KT400 chipset and the Serial ATA technology. Such feature can be found on the motherboard that I'm reviewing today, the Asus A7V8X. The Asus A7V8X motherboard can be bought choc full of features such as: Serial ATA, (4) USB 2.0 ports, AGP 8x, IEEE 1394 (Firewire), Gigabit LAN Port, DDR400, and Asus Post Reporter. When I requested this board from KnowledgeMicro they only had the "crippled" version of this motherboard in stock. What I mean by crippled is that some of the optional features were not found on my board. For example, my board did not have Serial ATA and Firewire. With that being said, this board is officially called the A7V8X/A. Cripple, really isn't a very good word since this board still has plenty of other very nice features. So let's find out what those features are!

BenQ has an annual output of over 3 million monitors which ranks them among the top 5 computer display manufacturers. Their LCD and CRT monitor products range from 14" to 21" (Various Viewable's). Now you know that BenQ is not some new kid on the block.

PC Tech FANSTORM Fan-Controler Review
X-treme PC TECH help to tame those fans with a look at the PC Tech FANSTORM fan controller.

Today most computers require at least some type of cooling. High Performance computers require the most cooling. Even if you have a 1.0 Ghz CPU, your computer still requires some type of extra cooling. ALL electronic components create heat, it is caused by the flow of electricity causing friction. The faster it travels more heat is made. Heat can cause severe damage to your computer, such as performance decreases, component failure, system crashing, and the risk of burning out chips....
