PC3200 DDR Memory Shootout
OCAddiction have three of the big names in PC3200 as they throw GeiL, Corsair and Xtreme together.

For those of you that read my review of Geil's PC3500 you already know how I feel about the importance of using quality RAM. For the rest of you I don't care how good your motherboard, processor or cooling is your not going to be able to overclock much or maybe not even at all if you buy the generic cheap stuff. Only with the name brand stuff will you be able to get the kind of performance your looking for.

PowerColor 9700 Pro
I'm not sure who thinks uip these names but "Radeon 9700 Professional Evil Commando 2" sounds a touch on the lame side to me. Perhaps the translation doesn't do it justice. [H]ard|OCP took a look to see what it's made of.

The brand name PowerColor was coined in 2001 with the introduction of their partnering with ATI to produce an array of Powered by ATI cards. Their range of ATI products starts with the Rage2C and continues all the way up to the Radeon 9700 Pro. They have a complete range of products from ATI, NVIDIA, SiS, and ST. The card we have here today is their top of the line Radeon 9700 Professional Evil Commando 2 (Model XR9700-C3).

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ Thoroughbred CPU Review
It may not be the fastest on AMD's site but it's just about the fastest you can realistically get your hands on. Mikhaeltech review the AthlonXP 2200+.

All the AMD CPUs before Athlon had slower FPU compared to their Intel counterparts, but the Athlon was really a fast processor. Not only did it have a faster ALU then Intel's P3, but it also had a faster FPU, which really makes a difference in games and multimedia applications. Although the P3 had SSE for FPU calculations and the Athlon only 3DNow!+ (a new version of the 3DNow! instructions found on K6-2) and most applications were optimized for Intel's SSE, the Athlon proved to be faster. The newly launched Athlon became the dream for many hardware enthusiasts and gamers, and being not so high priced helped it become very popular.

Antec Performance Plus 660AMG Case Review
Antec's impressive 660AMG gets the once-over at Dukgamers. They've only got the press pics though which makes it hard to judge the quality. Our review is HERE.

The front of the case has openings for three 5.25" (DVD, CD-RW) drives and two 3.5" (Floppy) drives. Moving further down the front of the case there is a pop-up flap which hides the two USB 2.0 and single Firewire ports, the ports are very useful if you have a digital camera or game pad as they can be plugged in or removed easily without having to reach behind the tower. All the necessary leads to connect the ports to a motherboard are included.

ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Video Card
Not seen enough Radeon 9700 Pro reviews yet? Well you're in luck as ipKonfig have just posted another one!

On August 19, 2002, ATI began its shipments of the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro video card. Today, it's the most talked about video card in the world, and has gained Number 1 spot. The fanatical market for games has always driven the video card industry to produce high end graphics cards. ATI, as we have seen, has now put out the world's fastest video card to date. Now somewhat behind, NVIDIA's top cards must now follow and play catch-up in the performance game.

ATI demonstrates world's first graphics cards powered by DDR-2 technology
ATi are certainly on a roll at the moment and despite talk that NV30 will utilise DDR-2 ATi once again get the jump on their rivals and demostrate it in action.

MARKHAM, Ontario - In a move that solidifies ATI's (TSX: ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT) position as the world leader in defining and implementing the latest graphics technology, ATI engineers became the first to demonstrate a visual processing unit (VPU) powered by second-generation double-data rate (DDR) dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), known as DDR-2.

ATI also announced a DDR-2 variant for mobile graphics and mid-range desktop graphics, code-named DDR-2M, and demonstrated the technology working on a desktop graphics card. DDR-2M delivers DDR-2 performance with lower power consumption, reduced heat dissipation and simplified board design. ATI worked closely with Elpida Memory Inc to develop DDR-2M as part of ATI's ongoing commitment to moving technology innovation aggressively out to the masses.

EPoX 8K9A2+ KT400 Review
VR-Zone get to look at the Epox 8K9A2+ KT400 motherboard and it seems the Epox engineers have pulled out all the stops to make this a board that overclockers are really going to want!

More interestingly, the EPoX's BIOS engineer told me that there is no need to unlock the Thoroughbred CPUs for this board since the Vss is connected to ground when the T'Bred is seated into the CPU socket. This is certainly great for overclockers. Since EPoX 8K9A2+ is made for the overclockers therefore i shall emphasize on the features as well as its overclockability.

Inadequate and Deceptive Product Labeling Comparison of 21 Power Supplies
Tom's Hardware put the squeeze on 21 of the best power supplies around, though perhaps not the best known as I'd not heard of a few of them.

Our comparison test of high-end power supplies produced a clear set of results: some manufacturers have a lot of homework to do if they want their equipment to remain competitive with that of their rivals. In many cases, the claimed power specifications, as they appear on the manufacturers' model ID stickers, did not match the values we recorded in our lab test.

Neng Tyi Nexus KN02 HSF Review
TweakTown has just posted a review of the Neng Tyi Nexus KN02 HSF. The KN02 is a new value heatsink - Does it have the power to keep up with the big guns? Here's a snip:

For those who have been asking for inexpensive heatsinks for your systems, take a peek here as TweakTown takes a look at one of the cheapest coolers to recently hit the market. Of course, inexpensive doesn't take away the necessity for reasonable performance. We've put this Nexus cooler through the standard gauntlet to see if it will suit the needs of those looking for a more reasonably priced cooling solution. Let's see how it fared against some other low-cost sinks!

3Dlabs Wildcat4 & Wildcat VP560 Preview
Today 3Dlabs launch two new Workstation PC graphics boards, the Wildcat4 and Wildcat VP560. The Wildcat4 follows on from the WildcatIII architecture, whilst the Wildcat VP560 is a new chip, P9, adopting the principals behind their recent P10 chip. Beyond3D look at what's on offer from both varieties.

Many people may find the idea that boards targeted for workstations could possibly utilise a deferred rendering method quite frankly absurd. I will admit that I had discounted this possibility, however it appears that this is exactly what 3Dlabs are trying to achieve with Wildcat VP560.

ThermalRight SK7 HSF Review
The Overclocker Café’ takes ThermalRight’s new SK7 heatsink for a lap around the block. Combining elements of the SLK-800 and the original SK6, the SK7 looks to be a worthy cooler if not the best bang for the buck.

Another benefit of this design is that in using an 80mm fan, the fan hangs over both sides of the sink. The SLK-800's base is much narrower allowing the fan to keep hot air circulating out from under the base. The SK7 while employing a more traditional base design achieved the same goal but by the fan's overhang.
