Massive 10 Motherboard i845E/G Roundup
PCStats gather up a round ten i845E/G motherboards in the hunt for that elusive prime example.

Today, we'll be focusing on just the Intel i845E and i845G chipsets. Both Northbridges are based on the original i845 chipset which originally brought the Pentium 4 and SDRAM together. The main differences that exist on the i845G are that it has onboard 'Intel Extreme Graphics' and support for PC2700 DDR memory. The native i845 chipset has no on board graphics, and is only officially compatible with PC2100 DDR memory.

Nvidia chips to make tardy debut
CNET are asking if NV30 will prove too late to make a substantial impact on the gaming market. Those who now NVIDIA know it's always a mistake to try and second guess them.

Graphics chip leader Nvidia is expected to unveil the fastest PC graphics processor yet at the Comdex trade show next month, but analysts say the new chip may be too little, too late. Nvidia was expected to have its NV30 processor, to be sold as the GeForce 5, on the market by now. But problems stemming from shifting to a new chipmaking process have bumped back the chip by several months. Analysts now expect Nvidia to have a handful of new chips on the market by Christmas, but volume shipments won’t begin until early next year

Serial ATA - The Dawn of a New Era
Everything you ever wanted to know about SerialATA but were afraid to ask. Explosive Labs have it covered.

Even though many thought that the eventual successor of the aging IDE interface would be replaced by a completely new technology akin to SCSI, Serial ATA is more like a blast from the past. Serial technology was once considered obsolete. Look at the serial ports that are gradually being replaced on today’s PCs. Interestingly enough, those ports are not being placed by different types of data transfer systems, but by other serial devices like USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394.

Antec True Blue 480W PSU
There's no doubt that Antec make some of the best power supplies around but if you're looking for something a little more unique their TrueBlue line now includes blue LED lit fans. OCAddiction took a look at one.

When you hear the name “Antec” most people immediately think of the current King of the Hill in cases. Then their power supplies usually come in a close second. Antec’s True Power series wants to change that. The power supply market has been a veritable hot bed as of late with manufacturers pumping out some seriously high wattage units. We have on the plate Antec’s True Blue 480 watt power supply unit. The True Power 480W is a serious contender in it’s own right, but Hans has been locked up in the lab hard at work, and came up with True Blue 480. A seriously killer looking unit with an eerie blue glow emanating from the two fans installed in the psu.

3DMark2001SE Tweak Guide - Part 2
PCStats have part 2 of their series on benchmarking under 3DMark 2001SE.

The 3DMark benchmarks from MadOnion are quite popular and are often used to test the power of computers, and while 3DMark may not always represent real world 3D performance, it is usually a good indicator. Like I mentioned in my earlier 3DMark2001 Tweak Guide , the best feature of the 3DMark benchmarks is the ability to upload your score to the web and compare your computer to some of the fastest rigs in the world.

Rage3D have details on the latest three products to grace ATi's graphics lineup, the 9700, 9500 Pro and 9500.

ATI has really kept themselves busy since the initial launch; they introduced the FireGL X1 based on the Radeon 9700 core, the Mobility Radeon 9000 for the notebook market and just recently the AIW Radeon 9700 Pro. Not wanting to lose any momentum, today ATI is announcing not just one product, but three: the Radeon 9700, Radeon 9500 Pro and the Radeon 9500.

DFI AD77 Infinity (VIA KT400) Motherboard Review
Digital-Daily.com review DFI's AD77 Infinity and find it's not the best choice for the power user. We took a look at the pre-production model and I now have a retail version here and hope to post our results soon.

The word "Infinity" implies something having no boundaries or limits. I can't say which specification item of the AD77 board may have such a wording, but anyway it sounds powerful :)

ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Review
Neoseeker give us their take on ATi's Radeon 9700 Pro. They take a brief look at image quality along the way too.

ATI has produced a quality product that rivals nVidia's Ti4600. ATI's new Radeon chip series is a remarkable new chip technology. Originally designed for high-end graphic manipulation, the Radeon chip has proven to be more than just a regular video card but it has evolved far more than that it is now directly challenging nVidia as a gaming card.

Arkua 6228 CPU Cooler Review
Overclockedcafe check out the Socket 370/462 Arkua 6228 CPU cooler. It's an aluminum cooler, with a copper core, and comes with a rather unique design.

It's be tough to be a cooler company these days, first off, there is cutthroat competition between these companies to try and differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack, secondly, not many real innovations are happening, it's more refinement and materials. I mean let's face it, there are only so many combinations and sizes of fans, primarily two metals in use, and fins of every imaginable type.
I received this cooler in a shipment from Arkua not to long ago, and my first impression was "Great, another big-ass fan and funky fin design cooler", well sometimes first impressions are wrong, dead wrong.

Thermaltake Volcano 7+ Copper Heatsink and Fan
OverclockersClubCanada has finished a review on the Thermaltake Volcano 7+ Copper Heatsink and Fan. Heres a quote from the review:

Before I start, you guys are probably wondering: "Why would I review a Volcano 7+ when there are superior models already out for quite some time now?" Of all the reviews that I've seen so far on a Volcano HSF, I've yet to find one that is tested against a Pentium 4 CPU. Even if a Volcano 9+ is released, it will most likely be tested using an AMD processor, since up to this point and a little beyond the latter CPU is the one that requires more cooling power. Thermaltake also has another solution for the Pentium 4, known as the Spark 7, but from what I know, availabilty on that particular item is very low, and as such not very many people have actually heard about it. Because of these reasons, I've decided to bring back an older item and put it to the test using a socket 478 environment.

VoyeurMods SF50 Modded Aluminum Case Review
PCREVIEWSPOT.COM has published their latest review featuring the Voyuer Mods SF50 modded chenming aluminum case.

Now modding has been quite in the shadows and part of the minority for a while now, but with the introduction of aluminum, better looking, and easier to cut cases, modding has taken a jump! Modding can be quite tedious for the beginner, especially if you have just recently acquired a dremel and want to learn how to use it before lobbing off your fingers. Voyeur Mods has taken a big step (along with others), and now offer pre-modded cases! Windows, blow holes, lights, molding, etc; pretty much whatever you want done, they will do it - and as everything, it comes at a price. Today we will be taking a look at the SF50 Modded Case.

KDS Rad5-C LCD Review
Pheenix of OCIA has posted his review of the KDS Rad5-C LCD Monitor. Here's a teaser :

One thing that I've always liked about LCD screens was that there could be no misunderstanding about the viewable area. You don't have to deal with that 15" screen, 13.8" viewable crap. On LCD screens, the screen size *is* the viewable area. So this 15" monitor we have sitting here has a viewable area that is almost as large as a 17" CRT one. Schweeeet!

PNY Verto GeForce 4 Ti 4600 Video Card Review
Extreme Overclocking has published a review on PNY's Verto GeForce 4 Ti 4600 video card. We don't get to see many online reviews of PNY stuff so it's always good to read then when they appear.

When people think of PNY, the first thing that usually comes to mind is "memory", which was their only original product. However PNY has expanded their product line to include other items such as CD Media, Compact Flash, Smart Media, and most notably, Video Cards. This review is on PNY's Verto GeForce 4 Ti 4600 video card which is their current top of the line consumer graphics card.
