HoloMAXX Trying to control Review Sites?
Sounds like GeekExtreme ran into a company probably best avoided. After a totally unreasonable contract that basically hands over all editorial control they rub salt into the wounds by stating "some review site operators fail to realize their position in the industry, and that has made it necessary for us to bring our lawyers into the mix. =(" Nice Kitty!

Any form of sponsorship through hTRADE is regarded as a marketing/advertising effort. The reviewer must accept the fact that conducting a review on any of our products is equal to writing an advertisement. To that end, hTRADE reserves the right to modify or decline the publication of any review, for any reason.

NV Detonators v41.09
OverclockerCafe fired over an e-mither to let us know they're hosting the new (not official) Detonator 41.09s.

Just a quick note to let you know we have posted up the newest Nvidia Detonator drivers in our download area. Looks like we are up to version 41.09 now. While I have not benched these out myself as of yet, I have installed and run them without any difficulties on XP Pro.

Creative Labs Audigy 2 Review
Creative's Audigy 2 is under the scope over at Gaming in 3D.

Creative's "Soundblaster" line has, to many people, achieved Ultimate Name Brand status. In much the same way people call any bandage a "Band-Aid" and a Facial Tissue a "Kleenex", many of the computer un-savvy population default to calling any sound-generating device in their PC a "Soundblaster". Is this reputation deserved, or simply a matter of "Who's the first big company" (I still having people asking for "Voodoo cards" where I work...)? Let's try Creative's new Soundblaster Audigy 2 and find out.

Altec Lansing AVS300W Speakers
Want decent sound, but you lack a decent budget? At 50$, you'd think these speakers would be lacking but ViperLair ended up quite impressed.

The AVS 300W's strong point is definitely its sub woofer. Rather than go cheap, Altec Lansing has made a very sturdy woofer. The woofer has been painted white, with the exception of the back, which shows the woofers original press-board color. While not overly powerful, the woofer provides deep, rumbling bass tones that compliment the rich sounds produced by the speakers.

ABIT NF7-S nForce 2 Motherboard Review
Hexus.net have completed their look at the ABIT NF7-S nForce 2 Motherboard. Provided you run in synchronous dual channel mode there's simply nothing to touch it in VIA's lineup.

It looks formidable on paper. Stacked with technology and useful features, ABIT have their interpretation up and raring to go. Taking advantage of almost everything that the nForce2 has to offer, and adding their legendary Softmenu III BIOS and general stability, it should be a sterling performer. Let's find out just what it can do against VIA's finest.

Neon ATA-133 Rounded Cables
The Overclocker Café had an interesting package show up on the doorstep, neon ATA-133 Rounded Cables. Although they only ran them through Sandra's file systen benchmarks initial findings are that there's no massive impact on data throughput.

I mean, I thought about every imaginable form of rounded cable that could be made, had been. We have seen the standard vinyl covered lines in about every color under the sun, silver and copper mesh, with some supporting today's ATA-133 devices. It should have been assumed that somebody somewhere was looking at a set of lines with their head cocked to one side wondering, "how can I get some neon in there?" Apparently, they figured it out.

Swiftech MCP300T Inline Watercooling Pump Review
Amdmb.com has just published their review of the Swiftech MCP300™ Inline Watercooling Pump. Stan puts it through some tests to see how well it can perform against the ever present Eheim 1048 pump.

At roughly 3/4ths the price of the Eheim 1048 pumps the MCP300™ has almost 50% higher flow rates making it more comparable to the Eheim 1250. The pump is, as are all Swiftech products that I have tried, of an excellent, well constructed and thought out design. The aluminum impeller housing prevents the main problem that the Eheim pumps have, which is that the impeller housing can crack, chip or split apart if handled or tightened a little too hard.

Vantec Nexus Fan Controller Video Review
The first of two looks at the Vantec Nexus fan speed controller this evening, though of course this one makes it through in 25 frames per second FMV!

“The Vantec Nexus Fan Controller keeps your fans spinning and does it in style. It's available in black or silver, controls up to four fans and each fan is operated by an adjustable speed knob. Also, each knob is backlit with a blue LED making it stand out from any other fan controller currently on the market. Watch the Video to find out more..." ~3dGameMan.com

A ClubOC Quartet
OCIA checks out Evergreen Technologies TherMagic Watercooling CPU Cooling System in their latest review.

Vantec Nexus NXP-201 Fan Speed Controller
Vantec has yet another great product heading our way! This time Vantec is calling their new device the Nexus NXP-201 Fan Speed Controller. Similar to Vantec's previous "Nexus" product, this version is designed to control the RPMs of your cooling fans only. Tired of those "do-it-yourself" fan buses that break the bank and never look right once installed? Vantec's version will only cost around $29.00 USD and is far easier to install and looks much better than anything else in it's class. Check it out right here on ClubOC!

PCToys Quiet MAXX 6000+ Socket-A HSF
I remember my reaction to the first Zalman "Flower" heat sinks. I thought "that looks awesome!" The tests that I read showed that they were useful in reducing the fan noise from your PC, but were not suited for any form of overclocking. Well the PC Toys Quiet MAXX 6000+ is indeed from their own line of Zalman made products. They Market designs for socket 462 AMD processors and socket 423/478 Intel p4's. On the package it states "Stable operation even in an OVERCLOCKED environment." Can one of these cool looking heat sinks work in an overclocked rig? Hang with me and lets find out!!

TherMagic Watercooling CPU Cooling System Review
OCIA checks out Evergreen Technologies TherMagic Watercooling CPU Cooling System in their latest review.

Installation began with me powering down the system, unplugging the power cable from the PSU and laying the PC on its side. From this angle I had to unscrew and move the PSU to remove the heatsink, a ThermalRight SLK800. After removing the sink I cleaned up the CPU core with some rubbing alcohol and q-tips and reapplied the TherMagic paste to the CPU. I brought the watercooling system over beside me and put the larger part of the unit on top of one of my PCI cards and positioned the cold plate in place over the CPU. I grabbed the mounting clip and proceeded to put it in place. All was going well when all of the sudden the blue hose going into the cold plate pops off.

AVC Avalanche Socket A Cpu Cooler Review
3dXtreme whave posted their AVC Avalanche Socket A Cpu Cooler Review! with its copper insert is this the best of both worlds or a poor compromise?

The heatsink is made from aluminum with a copper slug pressed into the center of the base. I have always enjoyed coolers made this way as I usually see great temperature scores while not worrying about the stress on the socket due to excess weight.

DooM 3 as a Benchmark
DigitalDaily look at the merits of Doom3 as a benchmark. Whther you like the dark, brooding gameplay or not all that eye candy will be hell on your hatdware!

I'm sure Doom III is one of the most long-awaited games of the 3D Action class. The screenshots from the game and preliminary reviews generated considerable public excitement. As for us, we are interested in the Doom III as in a benchmark rather than a game as its release is still far away.
