The Cam That Can
Following on from our recent look at Creative's very small and neat Live WebCam for Notebooks, today we step up a notch in terms of size, features and of course price.

The Live! Motion is a clever piece of kit. Not only does it look stylish, it also boasts a high resolution (for a webcam) 640x480 CCD sensor and pads out its impressive CV with a motorised pan and tilt function. Creative clearly have big plans for their WebCam lineup and with just about the only serious competition coming in the shape of Logitech's QuickCam Orbit they're not exactly fighting to be noticed, though on paper at least Logitech have the edge at present with their Logitech QuickCam Orbit MP boasting a genuine 1.3 Megapixel sensor (approx 1280x1024) as opposed to the Live! Motion's interpolated 1.3 Megapixel captures.

The supplied software CD includes the drivers and Creative WebCam Center software along with a few useful titles like Creative Photo Manager, SightSpeed VoIP+Video software, ArcSoft VideoImpression, Yahoo! Messenger and an electronic user's guide.

The WebCam comes with a fixed USB2.0 cable which takes care of feeding the video to your PC, while Creative have compensated for the lack of an integrated microphone by bundling an OK-quality mono earphone/mic headset. This can be used in either ear though I didn't find it terribly comfortable for prolonged use.
