Because of some of the changes being implemented here at 3DV including reconfiguring three test systems we were caught a bit with our pants down for this review. We didn't have an 800MHz FSB CPU available to us at this stage which probably puts us in the same boat as the overwhelming majority of our readers

Although changes in our test system have made it impossible to include accurate comparison results in this review, we have several pending reviews that will put these figures in perspective so watch this space. As a guideline, the few comparisons we've run so far seem to put the i865PE chipset some 3-5% behind the i875 chipset in pure performance terms. Let's look at the scores:

SiSoft Sandra 2003

Although synthetic in nature SiSoft's Sandra offers a valuable insight towards overall performance levels.

Sandra Memory Bandwidth

Sandra Cache and Memory Performance

As expected the memory performance is simply monstrous! Intel are clearly not suffering from their decision to ditch Rambus in favour of cheaper and more readily available DDR.
