3DVelocity wish to thank SiS for providing this card for review.

SiS are better known for their motherboard chipsets. Their video cards arent as well known even though SiS graphics used to be the standard vga card in pre-built systems. SiS have returned to the 3D Graphics world and are trying to get their place on the difficult ladder of 3D success.

Xabre 400 Specification:

AGP 8x
DirectX 8.1 support (Volume Texture, BRDF, Pixel Shader 1.3, Shadow mapping etc)
Pixelize Engine
Frictionless Memory Control (FMC)
Jitter-Free Anti-Aliasing
Coloredeemer Technology
MotionFixing Video Processor
3rd Generation T&L Engine
Double Scene Technology
Core 250Mhz
Memory 250Mhz (500 DDR)

As you can see from the specs above, the Xabre looks very promising, but what do they all mean?

Pixelize Engine
SiS H/W Pixel Shader that can alter lighting and surface effects of materials and surfaces to mimic reality. The "Pixelizer" engine uses pixel data from a series of input registers, performs operations on the data using an arithmetic logic unit, and outputs the transformed pixel data to the graphics pipeline for further processing. This pixel shader technology brings the quality of objects in every frame to insurmountable heights and can crank 3D-"realism up another notch in certain applications i.e. games, Digital Content Creation etc. Gamers will be able to see more impressive effects, more realistic-looking scenes and more life-like motions in games.

Frictionless Memory Control (FMC)
The Xabre Family series Graphic Processing Unit integrates Frictionless Memory Control architecture to boost effective memory bandwidth and improve overall memory efficiency. Basically, this means even faster and smoother frame rates when running heavy loading applications.

Jitter-Free Anti-Aliasing
This is SiS' Full Scene Anti-Aliasing. They have worked on their AA to stop the huge slow down that most other cards bring when this option is turned on. The "Jitter-Free" Antialiasing engine can support 1x, 2x and 4x blur, Oversamping and jitter antialiasing.

Coloredeemer Technology
This technology is to enhance the color rendering of the display. This provides full-frame rate, full-screen, high quality color enhancement to make objects more vivid and realistic.

MotionFixing Video Processor
The MotionFixing processor supports 4 fields per-pixel motion detection de-interlace function, video sources from MPEG decoder, Video Capture and AVI interfaces.

3rd Generation T&L Engine
Supports up to 16 vertex cache for those high textures games and apps

Double Scene Technology
This is better known as dual-viewing. Connection more then 1 imaging device to your graphics card. Companion with SiS301,Support LCD+CRT, CRT+CRT,CRT+TV dual view function

The Xabre400 is top of the line of the Xabre series. The series include Xabre80 (200/166Mhz, AGP4x), Xabre200 ( 200/166Mhz AGP8x) and the Xabre400 (250/250Mhz AGP8x) and coming soon Xabre600.
