Part Six: Direct X

We start with the excellent DX7 and DX8.1 benchmarks from Madonion.com, 3DMark 2000 and 3DMark 2001. It would be interesting to see if the card could shine in the still highly relevant DX7 benchmark 3DMark 2000.

(3DMark 2000v.1.1 16bit)

3DMark 2000 16bit
640 x 480
800 x 600
1024 x 768
1280 x 1024
1600 x 1200

12891
12570
11398
9401
(Results Expressed In 3DMarks)

As we saw in our eVGA reviews, the Geforce 4 is equally impressive in this older benchmark and as such it's highly unlikely any DX7 based game can really test the card fully.

(3DMark 2001 Second Edition 32bit)

3DMark 2000 16bit
640 x 480
800 x 600
1024 x 768
1280 x 1024
1600 x 1200
Albatron's Ti 4600
12702
11984
10991

7792

It's still shocking to see this card breeze through a benchmark that until very recently would bring respectable systems to their knees. This card was benchmarked in Mad Onion's 3DMark 2001 update 'SE'. If you need full XP and Direct X 8.1 support be sure to download the updated version first.

(Max Payne 'Shooting Alex' Time Demo 32bit Highest Quality)

Max Payne is still really pushing systems to their respective limits at higher resolutions, the Geforce 4 has ruled this benchmark since it's release and it is no surprise to see strong results once more.

The Geforce 4 Ti4600 from Albatron has proved it offers the same high level of performance as the more expensively priced cards from the bigger nV partners. We have seen less than great yields from the GF4 in the past so can Albatron's card restore some overclocking faith into the Ti 4600's customers?
