Scratched
Disk Testing:::...
Has
anyone else noticed how easy it is to scuff the surface
of your DVD media? I was pretty alarmed when I first
wiped a blank with my T-shirt and scored the hell
out of it. Needless to say I'm a bit more careful
now, but even so I was interested in how the DiViD
coped with badly scarred disks.
I
have a beautifully scuffed and scratched copy of Joint
Strike Fighter that gets used for this test and in
this case I compared the read test from the Amacom
with an Optorite DD0203 DVD-RW and Plextor's PX-W4824TA
CD-RW.

The DiViD appears to be the best of
the bunch where CDs are concerned, so how about a
DVD?

Test Results
I
use a really badly defaced DVD-R disk for this test,
and on this occasion the DiViD faired less well than
the others but it was there or thereabouts.

No
disk you care about should ever get in the kin of
state these two are but when you get out of the shower
and find your three year old has been playing Frisbee
with the only working backup of your company accounts,
it's nice to know you may be able to get at least
some of the data off there.
