How's
that for consistency? The average of 6.41x is pretty
solid and falls just slightly short of my beloved
NEC 2500A as you can see below.

CD-R/W Speed:::...
With
a maximum 32x Zone-CLV write, the DiViD isn't going
to win any cd write speed awards but it's certainly
plenty fast enough for what is primarily a DVD burner.

CD-RW
speeds are quoted at up to 16x but the supplied blank
only managed 10x CLV, which to those of us used to
4x feels pretty speedy anyway.

Another
solid all-round performance in these tests and in
general over the past seven days again indicate that
DiViD made an excellent choice when they opted to
run with Toshiba's
SD-R5272. This is a well behaved and very predictable
unit with a nice turn of speed.
Disk
compatibility has bee mixed with my Datawrite Classic
8x +R media refusing to burn at 8x while the Verbatim
media that DiViD kindly sent over worked perfectly.
This
really wouldn't be much of an issue for me if Toshiba
were know for their timely firmware updates, unfortunately
that's not the case. Toshiba have tended to be fairly
slow with their updates in the past and I hope they
can reexamine this aspect of their service if they
hope to remain a major player in this sector.
