The Hardware :::...

It makes absolutely no difference to the test results but AMD have put so much love into this particular machine that I thought I'd share. Built using the Cooler Master Wave aluminium case it also features a couple of green CCFL tubes to light it through the windowed side panel. AMD have even replaced the two regular blue LEDs on the front with green ones to complete the corporate image.

The use of black drives actually works better than using beige ones, not that you can see them with the door closed.

Drives

Three hard drives are fited, a single and two Western Digital WD360 36Gbyte 10,000 RPM serial ATA hard disk rives in RAID 0 with standard 32bit Windows XP Pro installed while the 64bit edition resides on a regular IDE unit.

The Test Setup:::...

Because we were supplied with a pre-configured machine, I'm not going to even pretend that the comparisons made here are as accurate as they could be. Natutally the tests run on the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows were from the same machine and so are directly comparable but the 3200+ results are from our own test system which, amongst other differences uses a Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card.
