The Radeon X600 has a RV380 core, which is based on the RV360 core (9600 XT). This card is in essence a Radeon 9600 XT with a PCI-Express connector and adjusted core and memory timings.

Memory bus interface is half as wide as the X800’s 256-bits at 128-bit.

Also this card uses simple and cheap DDR memory, instead of expensive GDDR3 that’s on the X800 Series.

There are 4 Pixel pipelines instead of 16 in the X800 XT editions or 12 in the X800 Pro editions and the core speed is 400 MHz.

If you look at the other cards ATI offers such as the X300 for low-end and the X800 for high end, then this card is classed as mid-range or mainstream, making it ideal for users who like a little light, casual gaming from time to time but don't necessarily have high resolution habbits or high polygon titles on their shelves.

External Features:::…

The video card came in this box.

Pretty box; now let’s see what’s inside.

There’s a manual and 2 CD’s one covers the drivers and lots of utilities.

But there’s more, have a look.

It’s the card itself, a S-Video cable and a DVI to VGA converter.
Now for a closer look at the video card itself.

Not a real big fan covering the GPU, which also means that it makes less noise.

The memory chips do not have any cooling as you can see, which means you won’t be very likely to over clock the memory that much.

Here’s a look at the back side of the card.

On the back you can see where the fan is placed, 2 easy release clips hold it in place. You can very easily remove the fan if you want to and replace it with a heavier duty cooler.

Here are the connectors it has.

That’s 1 VGA connector, 1 DVI connecter and a S-Video connector.
