GL Excess is one of those benchmarks you quickly come to rely on. It turns is consistent results and has bags of eye candy to keep you amused while it runs. I'd like to run the Radeons through these tests again on this platform as so far, particularly in this test, the Ti500 is stomping all over the Radeon scores in all but the VRam test. As I mentioned earlier, the Radeon tests were run on a 98SE/Athlon 1.4 platform, but just for the record, here's how they scored in this benchmark :

Quake3 Arena TimeDemo 001:

One thing is rapidly becoming clear, this card kicks multiple amounts of ass when it comes to OpenGL gaming. Again the comparison may be an unfair one, but based on these results the Ti scores higher in 1024x768 max quality than the 8500 managed at 800x600 in normal quality by some 21fps. If ever there was a reason to to whack on the FSAA and get some high quality fragging done, this is it!
