3DVelocity would like to thank Cyberdrive and especially Bianca Giesers for their help and courtesy in providing this CD drive for review.

Part One: Introduction

It seems common place to most users to have or at least know someone with a fast CDR/w drive these days yet it is easy to forgot that this is still a relatively new technology. As speeds have doubled and media has reduced in price, backing up data on to compact disk has never been easier. With plans to stop producing floppy drives in the near future, it's easy to see that this highly popular storage solution will be with us for many years yet. Even the reduction in price on newer DVD-RAM drives hasn't stopped the public from continuing to buy CD writers and thus we have a potential problem when choosing a drive. There are so many writers available these days, and while it's always great to have a wide choice, the casual user can get somewhat confused over which product represents the greatest value and best suits their needs. The market is saturated with so called 'budget solutions' and today I will be looking at at drive which not only incorporates some great features with a great turn of speed, but one that also represents significant value for money too. Let's find out how the Cyberdrive 'CW083D' (16x12x40) performs...
