Part One: What your getting
The DiskOnKey is a USB driverless portable storage
unit. The unit itself is about the size of a small marker. Although
its supposed to be usable as a keychain, I find that its a little
big, but it's perfect for fitting into your pocket or a pencil
case if you are a student.
Here is a pic of the DiskOnKey:
The DiskOnKey is one of the easiest pieces of
hardware that I've ever used. If you have WinMe/WinXP/Mac OS
9x+ and X, then all you do is plug the key into a usb port and
it will immediately show up in my computer. The DiskOnKey even
has a light that will show you what it is doing. The DiskOnKey
also works for Win98, CE 4.0, Mac 8.6, Linux 2.4.0 with a small
driver download. The company claims that the DiskOnKey has an
onboard ARM7 Cpu which allows it to be driverless, under some
OSes atleast. Unfortunately the DiskOnKey uses USB 1.1, using
USB 2.0 would have given it a very nice speed boost. The capacity
of the device goes from 8-128 MB, with larger capacity drives
avaliable in the future. The dimension are 82mmx15mmx23mm.
The DiskOnKey came with a short instruction manual,
4 labels, and the unit itself. With the simplicity of the device,
I'm surprised it didn't just say, "Plug it in".
