A Closer Look:::…

The Box

The Box

The box arrived from UPS without incident. From the outside, you get an idea of the innovative cooling design that I mentioned earlier as it is adorned with pictures and graphics galore.

Case Front and Rear

Once I removed the Styrofoam packaging, I was very impressed with the styling. Simple, clean lines. No frills, save for an LCD panel, your basic I/O, a big black knob and sleek buttons (that sounds like frills, but everything is so understated that it reads very clean). The entire front bezel is a wire mesh for more than adequate airflow.

The backside has ventilation, and your basic PCI slot openings. However, looking closer reveals your first hint at the inverted BTX style layout. Note the "upside down" I/O backing plate; below the PCI slots and keyboard and mouse connectors on the bottom. We'll get to the reasoning behind that in a minute.

Case Front and Rear

On the front bezel, there is an IO panel with four USB ports, one firewire port, headphone and mic jacks and temp readout.
