Part Seven: The Retail Package*
So many cards on todays market are based upon the same GPU's,
thus the importance of the actual package received can sometimes
be the deciding factor in your purchase. eVGA certainly seem
aware of this fact and we can describe their package as certainly
quite generous. Lets take a look...
Included in the retail box: -
1 x eVGA.com e-Geforce 4 MX440.
1 x Video Cable.
1 x Driver CD-ROM inc. Nvidia demos, driver version 27.30, Commanche
4 Demo.
1 x PowerDVD XP OEM version: Full licence.
2 x eVGA.com case stickers.

This was certainly a nice package without question.
The highlights include a full OEM version of the new PowerDVD
XP. A great DVD player and one that will showcase the GF4 improved
DVD playback to great effect. Your own reg. number is included
so this is not a demo version! eVGA.com's driver disk was packed
with programs. A trial of Commanche 4 was included, as were
the latest nV demos and drivers. You even get two free case
stickers to brighten up that gray box!
As we saw in our Abit
Ti200 review, the inclusion of a DVD player really adds
increased value to the whole bundle. Overall this was a great
package, eVGA.com has certainly looked after it's customers
in this area.
Part Eight: The Box
He is what your shiny new card will come enclosed
in. I feel the box art and overall presentation is of the upmost
importance, especially when we consider this card will have
to fight it out on the crowded shelves full of nVidia based
cards.

The clickable pictures above display eVGA.com's
package. Regular readers may remember I have a dislike to the
skull and beast type images we usually see brandished upon these
boxes so my like for this package is not too surprising. It's
simple, it's classy and it will surely help sell a lot of these
cards. The metallic theme is continued on eVGA's documentation
showing a true understanding of branding and attractive box
art. If you click the picture of the back of the box be sure
to glance at the small window near the centre. This shows the
user the back of the card and more importantly the unique serial
number assigned to that card. This must match the boxes number
(printed just above the window) otherwise the customer must
assume the shop has somehow mixed the cards up, which of course,
should never happen unless some foul play is involved. eVGA.com
take their warranty very seriously it would seem, as a visit
to their website
can attest to.

In conclusion then; eVGA had me excited before
the card was even in my test system, achieved through a combination
of attractive packaing and a more than generous bundle, this
is one company who's efforts to please really do shine through.
This would of course all mean nothing if the card turned out
to be a major disappointment, lets move on to the analysis of
the actual card before we start the benchmarks to see if the
quality shines through there also.
