A
Closer Look:::...
Unlike
Corsair, GeIL have opted to box their modules rather
than use rigid blister packs. To avoid any crushing
risk the memory is nestled in foam protection inside
the box. No real preference from me on which is best,
though I'd imagine GeIL's boxes are easier to stack.
Each
module comes suited and booted in a very nice blue
heat spreader with the GeIL name in raised chrome-like
lettering. There are no retaining clips over the heat
spreaders so GeIL obviously have faith that their
thermal adhesive is up to the task. And I don't mean
that the memory itself is at any risk if the heat
spreaders happen to drop off, I'm thinking more about
the rear of your video card or your motherboard which
may well end up in contact with the wayward aluminium.
The
holographic sticker on the modules doesn't actually
tally with the specs on the site. Here they state
2.5-8-4-4- rather than 2.5-7-4-4. For the record both
seemed to work equally well in my test system though
left to auto the SPD set 2.5-8-4-4.
