Part Tweleve: Accuview Antialiasing

nVidia's Geforce 4 Ti4600's and 4400's have already proved what great performers they are when using Accuview Antialiasing. Let's see how the Ti4200 performs...

* At 1600 x 1200 the drivers revert to 2X hence the results displayed above.

While the Radeon's relatively poor implementation of it's 'smooth vision' technology certainly counts against it, nVidia's AA has been stellar for a while now. The Geforce 4 series can use these features with far less a performance hit than any other card on the market. Just take a look at 4X at 1024 x 768, even with the lower clock speeds we can still play at over eighty seven frames a second, an amazing visual experience to say the least!

nVidia holds a clear lead in this area and while the quality of Radeon drivers have gotten better and better since it's launch, ATi still need to focus on this area if they are to compete with nVidia more effectively. The beta 6052 drivers I used in this review were, as we are rapidly coming to expect from ATi, excellent. Fast, stable and excellently presented, they still need to work on the Smooth Vision though, once this technology is advanced further nVidia may have an even greater fight on their hands, but for now at least, ATi is lagging behind a great deal when we consider antialiasing.

With the Ti4200 coming clocked at 250/500 we were very keen indeed to see just how high this card could go when overclocked, we discuss the results on page eleven.
