Part Ten: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
The recently released first/third person shooter
Jedi Knight II includes it's own time demo. It's a game that
can really stretch even the latest systems at high resolutions
so it's inclusion here is important. If you would like to benchmark
your own system you will need to follow the instructions below
carefully.
Firstly open the multiplayer game and press shift and `
(the usual console key) then type the following instructions.
timedemo 1 (the notice that the time demo is cheat
protected is normal)
devmap ffa_bespin
disconnect
timedemo 1
demo jk2ffa
You will need to then press the console command
and use page up to see your frames per second.
The shots below illustrate what settings we will
be using for testing...

(Results Expressed In
Frames Per Seconds)

The two Geforce solutions seem to have a clear
edge in this highly CPU intensive benchmark. All cards seem
rather CPU limited at the first three resolutions but the Ti's
show their high resolution dominance at 1600 x 1200. The Radeon
is left behind managing a respectable fifty four frames a second
but it's not enough to outpace the Ti4200.
We move on to our final benchmark on page nine,
the excellent Max
Payne. A game that tests your setup arguably as much as
Jedi Knight II.
