So what's the leather flap all about anyway?, well, to begin with I assumed it was to allow you to slide drives in and out then secure them, however I was wrong. All that lurks behind the substantial shackle is a short USB plug.

Integral USB Connector

Extending just a couple of inches from the body of the enclosure, the short USB lead is probably fine in an emergency but for more regular use the supplied extension lead is best employed.

Integral USB Connector

The front of the slightly overzealous flap is secured by a press stud. I'm guessing they thought the recent trend for using powerful magnetic fasteners might freak potential buyers, however unlikely it is is to do any damage to your HDD data.

Press Stud Flap Fastener

Two status LEDs are provided, the top one being a green power status light while the bottom one is a red HDD activity light. These are fine in terms of brightness but can be difficult to see from some angles due to being rather close to the edge of the leather flap.

Status LEDs

Just two screws gets you inside where the 2.5" 9mm deep hard drive of your choice can be installed by simply pushing it into the black connector. The drive is a reasonably snug fit, which it has to be really because no screws or other mechanisms are used to secure it further.

Internal View

Although the removable panel is made entirely from alloy and isn't plastic lined like the fixed panel onto which the leather is applied, this probably isn't the most thermally friendly way to run high speed drives for prolonged periods of time. That's not to suggest it would do any harm, just that more could have been done to help cool the drive inside.
