Part Three: A Look
At The Board [2]

Here is the placement of the power connections.
As one would expect this board utilizes three phase power for
increased stability and power regulation; an essential feature
for boards supporting the Athlon / Duron combination. The placement
is one I would describe as satisfactory. As long as you are
prepared to use some strong zip ties or such like the layout
can be fine for general good airflow within the case.

I've made the picture above a little bigger so
we can discuss the (first) problem with the XP333. The capacitor
that is circled in green is the troublesome feature in question.
At first I didn't notice it's placement and tried to install
a Dr. Thermal heatsink and fan, as you may have already guessed
it was made physically implausible by the placement of that
very capacitor. As the unit's sides are not quite in line with
the clip, it had no chance of fitting correctly. A small but
no less annoying 'quirk' of the motherboard. It seems ironic
that Iwill's claims of dedication toward the overclocker were
thwarted by a less than extreme hsf. I fitted an AMD approved
Taisol HSF and continued the installation, all be it somewhat
annoyed already.
The motherboard comes sporting five PCI slots
and a 4x AGP slot.

Iwill always have a reputation for innovative
packaging and design and the XP333 motherboard is no exception.
The usual static proof casing is utilized again as well as the
distinctive box design and colour scheme. This is one product
that would certainly demand attention when placed upon the busy
festive shelves!

Lets move on....
