In the words of MadOnion.com, 3DMark®2001
SE (build 330) is the latest installment in the popular
3DMark series. By combining DirectX®8.1 support with completely
new graphics, it continues to provide benchmark results that
empower you to make informed hardware assessments. Love it or
hate it there's no doubting its value as a benchmarking tool,
particularly when used to make comparisons. This was run at
the default 1024x768.
Albatron KX400+ Pro
Epox 8K3A+
Albatron KX400+ Pro
Again we see the 8K3A+ lead the pack and again
it seems the Albatron boards are suffering from their less than
optimal memory handling. I don't doubt that performance could
be significantly improved with nothing more than a more optimised
BIOS but it needs doing if Albatron are to make an impact at
the very competitive sharp end of the business. These results
have nothing to do with build quality or board design, they
simply demonstrate the fact that Albatron don't have the experience
of the likes of Epox when it comes to BIOS coding. On the flipside
we've seen one or two instances in the past where Epox boards
have coped badly with new technologies (Radeon 9700 Pro for
instance) and it's generally accepted that Epox sometimes push
just a little too hard for their performance edge.
PCMark 2002 :
PCMark2002
is a completely new, multipurpose benchmark, suited for benchmarking
all kinds of PCs, from laptops to workstations, as well as across
multiple Windows® operating systems. This easy-to-use benchmark
makes professional strength benchmarking software available
even to novice users. PCMark2002 consists of a series of tests
that represent common tasks in home and office programs. PCMark2002
also covers many additional areas outside the scope of other
MadOnion.com benchmarks.
Albatron KX400+ Pro
Epox 8K3A+
What PCMark clearly demonstrates is that the KX400+
is far more efficient in its file system operation with a HDD
score some 30% higher than the Epox but again it's the memory
score that spoils the party.
