Test
Setup:::...
Athlon64
3400+
Windows XP Pro + SP2
Radeon X800 Pro Graphics
2x512MB GeIL UltraX 2-5-2-2
WD800GB 80GB Western Digital HDD
What
no comparisons?
I
began to repeat every single benchmark on our MSI K8N Neo
Platinum but stopped about half way through when I noticed
that every single result was the same as those from the
250GB, at least to withing a margin for error.
I
then borrowed an ASUS K8N-E and ran a few quick benchmarks
only to find the same situation again. As this would have
made the graphs rather boring I didn't bother.
The
upshot is that although I've included the scores from the
250GB here, you can pretty much forget about stock performance
comparisons as all the top boards turn in scores that are
within a couple of perecent of each other. Instead I suggest
you focus your buying decisions on price, features, looks
and your requirements.
ScienceMark
2 :::...
Science Mark is a favourite with us and I'm not sure why
more people don't use it. Our experience has been that it's
fast and accurate and gives repeatable results.
ScienceMark
is essentially a compilation of varied scientific number-crunching
simulations and calculations making use of the latest CPU
optimisations to load your system to the limit.
Memory
Benchmark
It's
not surpsising to see such a hot pace set with the integral
controller. We're looking for higher throughput other than
for the L1 and L2 latency figures (all but the top three
bars) where lower is better.

Primordia
Simulation
Considering
the 4000+ I reviewed recently turned in a simulation time
of 350.6 seconds, this time of 395 seconds is very respectable.
Just try not to dwell on the fact that the FX55 performs
the same simulation in around 326 seconds.

Lower

Cipher
Bench
Just
over a second slower than the 4000+, this is right on the
money for a 3400+.
