Installation:::...
Step
one was of course to find a suitable recipient, and what
better than to use my very own machine? Being a Toshiba
too this may just be enough to get them to email me and
suggest I leave the drive in there instead of sending it
back. It's obviously where it was born to reside!

After
quietly sneaking up on it, I pulled off a move straight
from WWF and pinned it on its back, before carefully removing
the two screws which secured the drive bay cover.

The
original unit, here pictured alongside the MK1031GAS from
last time, is a 30GB Hitachi Travelstar 30GB which I used
as a comparison drive to the MK1031GAS over here.
This time around I'm just comparing the MK1031GAS (4200rpm)
to the MK1031GAX (5400rpm). The strangle looking thing over
on the right is the drive caddy by the way.

If
you intend opening up your own notebook for any reason I
strongly suggest you look into the warranty conditions first
and check whether or not you risk voiding the warranty by
doing the job yourself.
