Performance:::...
Those of you with slightly more specialist
uses will be relieved to see all the main features
in place including RAW mode, 99 minute disk handling
and overburning and EFM encoding. For those who understand
what it means and/or care, this is a two sheep drive
though you'll not be surprised to hear it failed the
three sheep test. The EFM encoding should help to
make life with SafeDisc 2 media a little easier.

As we've already looked at the earlier
drive I don't want to spend page after page examining
every angle of this drive's performance, besides which
there are far more qualified sites than us to do that.
We already know that the CR52 is a great performer
so let's just cover the basic tests for good measure.
Nero CD Speed:::...
At its default 40x read setting the
CR52 starts reading at just short of 19x and makes
to 41.51x at the 70 minute mark leading to a healthy
31.56x average.

At Default
Pressing the eject button for three
seconds puts the drive in full speed mode. Set like
this reading commences at 23.59x and hits 52.15x turning
in a very healthy 39.62x average.

Set for 52x
I can't imagine many scenarios where
you'd want to force 52 speed reading but it's there
if you need it. Operation was unusually smooth and
quiet, in fact I've heard 24x burners make far more
noise than the MSI does and it certainly seems quieter
than the original CR52-A2.
