The Control Panel

The Control panel is all active through your Internet Browser. Just type in the IP address of your Pro400 (192.168.0.1 as default) and up comes the Main Set-up page which advises your of your connection status to the internet, your PPPoE account information (if required), and information that your Host ISP may require (from your name, Domain and MAC address).
There are so many other options available from setting up other dynamic/static IP addresses for your other PC's that connect (remember this isn't only a security device but a very powerful hub too!) to creating your own servers and of course setting up applications to access the Internet.

The application side you may find to be a bit frustrating finding out what ports they use, but I found that if you go to the website of most major companies, they give you all the information you require. If they don't however, then just email them asking the details. Of course its not just down to the Pro400, this is EVERY firewall's down point (unless you have a software one that searches for them automatically). The Pro400 is pre-configured with settings, which helps a lot. The only time I had to set-up Internet Access was for games!

This is the most interesting setting to me. The Virtual Servers let you have PC's behind the firewall to be broadcast to the Internet as servers! All you need to do is tick the box that you want, and you insert the IP address of the PC that will have that function!
For example, if you set up PC2 (which has an Internal IP of 192.168.0.2) as an FTP server, just tick the FTP box and type in the IP of 192.168.0.2 and you're done!! What this does is not broadcast your internal IP, but the Pro400 uses the External IP address given by your ISP and directs the external traffic to the relevant PC!
