A Closer Look :
Outside not a whole lot has changed but all the
changes are for the better. The model I'm looking at is the
"AMG" metallic gray option. The paint finish is very
high quality with a slight matt surface that helps keep the
fingerprints to a minimum. As with all previous performance
series cases the front bezels are ABS plastic.

Looking from the front the major changes are the
two extra LEDs, chromed power switch and that flap right in
the middle of the air vent.

Antec have used quite high intensity LEDs in the
new range which look very impressive in action and as we should
expect by now the reset button is recessed to avoid accidental
pressing. Both the power and reset buttons feel responsive and
nicely weighted. The two additional LED's can be connected to
a variety of internal devices.

Beneath that spring actiuon flap is one of the
most welcome inclusions to the new range, two USB and a single
IEEE1394 FireWire port. We mentioned when we looked at the performance
series cases that the time was right to add these ports and
Antec have certainly made the right choice by doing just that.
I'm not a big advocate of moving all the rear connectors to
the front of the case but I think there's certainly some merit
to having perhaps the line out/headphone socket there too.

Switching to the side view you notice Antec have
stayed with their tried and tested quick release latch, and
why not, it works like a charm. What has been added though is
a side panel fan positioned right above your AGP slot and as
is the Antec tradition this isn't some airflow choking assortment
of small diameter drilled holes, this is a real vent that shows
others how it should be done.

As previously mentioned the handle is lockable
and comes with keys supplied. The image is from a previous case
review hence the colour variation.

From the rear things are also very much unchanged
apart perhaps from that power swith on the PSU. A minor point
maybe but one that I'm sure most overclockers will be glad to
see and also one that hints at a whole new breed of power supply
inside but we'll cover that later.

The whole case arrived well packaged in a sturdy
box with polystyrene packing and inside was the usual assortment
of screws/stand-offs, the keys for locking the side panel quick
release latch and a rather nice molded Antec case badge......

.....that really looks good in place and just
adds that finishing touch. Externally the case is a real standard-setter
and though I looked I can't really find anything to gripe about.
