I'd love to take a poke around the mind
of whoever it is keeps coming up with these box designs.
How they keep churning them out without them ever
seeming to get any the less impressive eludes me.

The card itself holds no surprises at
first glance. The red PCB is now as much an ATi trademark
as it is an MSI one, but considering this core is
running at 500MHz where's the monster cooler? And
come to think of it where's the auxiliary power connector?
I'm guessing we're witnessing the advantages of low
k here.
Noise levels from this modest cooler
are minimal which should thrill those who value peace
and quiet as much as they do plasma guns and mayhem
and although I didn't really get a chance to thrash
it to within an inch of its life I can report that
it never got much more than just warm to the touch
which makes it a great candidate for use in small
for factor machines. A little something for everyone?

This of course is a reference card though
I've little doubt it will be followed faithfully by
most manufacturers, that is unless a couple of them
want to deck it out with memory that gets the pulse
racing a little faster than the Samsung does.

ATi have not made ant radical changes
in the memory department at all, sticking instead
with tried and trusted 300MHz Samsung BGA.

The core bares the "RV360"
coding.
