When
you first initialise the TV function, a wizard steps
you through getting everything up and running properly.
First
you're asked to assign a password to lock out certain
channels that you decide are unfit for young eyes.

For
TV-on-Demand to operate it records video directly
to your hard drive. Before you can do this you have
to specify certain settings such as the amount of
space you're prepared to set aside for the temporary
video files and the quality you'd like to use.
Obviously
the higher the quality, the less recording time you'll
get per Gigabyte of hard drive space. And if your
PC is a touch on the weady side you can lower the
level of CPU loading.

The
next step is to check if you've set up the audio side
of things correctly, even helping you out with a picture
of how things should look.
You
can also connect the graphics and sound cards internally
using an audio output connector but for some reason
this option doesn't get a mention.

As
with any new TV you must also let the hardware scan
for available channels. Being in dear ole' Blighty
with its meager 3-6 terrestrial channels I know my
channel numbers by heart so it was little frustrating
to have to keep scanning every time I set up the software
again rather than being able to enter them manually
but for most people this is a once-in-a-blue-moon
procedure.
Next
you must tell the system which channel the audio is
being fed through. Using the external connection you
will need to set this option to "Line In",
but if you're using your sound card's internal connectors
it may be "Aux" or "CD". The good
news is you can try each in turn and listen for sound.
