The Box:::...

Okay, so the box shots interest about one in a thousand of you but admit it, when you're in the shop it's the packaging that catches your eye first right? Well sometimes anyway.

Considering the strong links between Sapphire and ATi they seem to use the least ATi-like box designs of any of the big partners.

The Box

Box Product Details

The window gives a tempting look at what your money is buying you. I'm not convinced anyone still buys into the whole alien thing though, at least nobody who's been through puberty. I understand the thinking behind high-tech imagery, the chrome and the cables, the gears and the plasma trails that so often adorn box fronts, but aliens? Isn't it all a little cheesy?

I do like the colour scheme though, mean and moody, just like you hope the card will be. That's moody though, not temperamental.

Box Product Window

Inside the box you find pretty much the basics, but the basics becomes more and more with every new generation. Actually there's more than the basics here, I just happen consider a good DVD software player like the supplied PowerDVD to be a must, and the full version of Tomb Raider, Angel of Darkness, while nice to look at and great for benchmarking, is a rather ordinary game in every sense of the word that shouldn't swing a purchase decision.

The Bundle

The bundle is comprehensive if not spectacular and all you're likely to need is right there in the box. I think a copy of the Ruby demo would be a really good inclusion with these cards and give some idea what all that new technology brings you.
