What you get:::...

There's a few clues on the primarily corporate blue and yellow box as to what this little box of tricks can do.

Front Of Lightbus

Out of the box though this could be just about any three channel fan controller on the market, but look under each of the control knobs and you can see they're labelled red, green and blue. These are actually used to control both the intensity and the colour of the light produced as we'll see in a moment.

Front Of Lightbus

Moving round to the rear we find four 4-pin outputs to which the supplied LED lamp units are connected. The main power switch is fed from a standard 4-pin Molex.

Rear Of Lightbus

And these are the lamp units. Each high-intensity LED is mounted in a transparent lamp unit which can be tilted and swivelled in almost any direction.

On the end is a domed lens unit which it's claimed help focus the beam, though I doubt it has much effect to be honest.

Sunbeam supply some shaped self adhesive Velcro to mount the lamp units pretty much wherever you like. Of course you can also drill the base and mount using a screw if you'd sooner. I was helf tempted to suggest Sunbeam should pre-drill these but with hindsight this would reduce the surface area of the already small base and may stop the Velcro sticking effectively.

Apparently the lens section is removable but I couldn't get it off with reasonable force, plus I didn't want to damage anything in the process.

So now we know there's a three channel controller which outputs a feed to four lamps. Hardly a ground-breaking setup on the face of it. Let's plug it in and fire it up.
