A
Closer Look:::...
Tagan
have wisely stuck with their corporate matt black "stealth
bomber" colours which really draws your eye towards
that bright red "36 Month Warranty" splash in
the corner. By the way, that box actually glows in the dark!
how's that to get the product to jump out at you from underneath
a dark shelf?

All
the main details are laid out for all to see, and though
I initially wondered why they hadn't opted for putting a
clear window in the box the reason soon became apparent.

As
you can see, all that protective bubble-wrap would have
made a window impractical, and less protective packing is
never a good idea the way shipped goods often get treated
these days. The bubble-wrap also hints at one of the only
weaknesses I've so far found when testing Tagan power supplies,
that being the durability of the paint finish, or rather
its lack of durability.
In
order to maximise space, fitting a power supply in a lot
of modern cases is a far from dainty affair, and the snug
fit often means unsightly scratches that quite simply ruin
the appearance completely. Tagan's power supplies seem particularly
prone to giving up their paint finish rather too easily,
and silver gashes in a matt black paint job do nothing to
give an appearance of understated quality. Perhaps it's
time for Tagan to rethink their appearance, I vote for the
"nickel plated chrome" look.

In
The Box

Tagan
once again include there generous bundle of five Velcro
cable tidies, a pair of plastic cable ties, a small bag
with the mounting screws and a very nice braid-shielded
power cable. Tagan clearly don't take any chances when it
comes to EMI shielding their hardware.
