A
Closer Look:::...
The
drive arrived cleverly sandwiched between two sheets of
rubber which do a first class job of isolating it from any
knocks and bumps along the way.

|
Packaged
|
Obviously
the drive itself is very small, in fact it's 2.75 inches
wide by just shy of four inches long and incredibly just
over a third of an inch thick.

Okay
so it's only a PCB, but it's in a shade other than "PCB
Bottle-Green" and I like the little things like that.
No, don't email me telling me it's irrelevant and can't
even be seen once it's fitted, I'm aware of all that, I've
just had a very sheltered up-bringing and little things
like this do it for me. I won't be increasing the score
as a result of the PCB colour though so don't panic.

The
Drive - Bottom
|
Getting
two platters of any capacity in there is staggering, let
alone two 50GB platters!

Those
four pins on their own over on the right are actually the
jumpers, should you need them.

I'm
not sure why I've included a picture of the label, I guess
it's a gesture of support for those of you with the rare,
but much misunderstood problem of label fetishism. And for
that small but happy band of barcode spotters that I know
visit the site from time to time.
Scale
can be hard to judge in a photo so here's a picture of the
MK1031GAS and an AA battery getting cozy. Naturally it's
a Toshiba AA battery, we don't want any inbreeding diluting
the DNA.
