3D Velocity would like to thank ThermalTake, especially Weller,
for providing this sample for review

The most straight forward way to test a PSU is
to load it up and see if it buckles under the pressure. The
unit I have is rated at 360W which should be sufficient for
the average PC, but what about a little extra? I threw together
a concoction that should have been sufficient to crumble this
puppy. I have an XP2000+ cooled by a ThermoEngine with a GeForce4
Ti4400. This is basic stuff, not nearly not nearly strenuous
enough, so I added a few fans
two (2) 60mm, one (1) 92mm
and eight (8) 80mm. This is just what I had laying around the
workshop here, but it should pull some amperage
Also in
the mix are Several USB devices, from an external modem to an
iFeel mouse, I attached everything I had here to the PSU. The
final count was:
13 fans (including the HSF and HardCano)
2 CD ROM drives
2 USB Hubs full of 'stuff'
Hercules Game Theater XP sound card
I used this configuration and played Counter-Strike
online for over an hour (...I'm embarrassed to admit just how
much over an hour I played but you can be sure that the real
world testing gave the Tt PSU a thorough workout from about
9:00 until 1:30 or so
. I prefer to say "over an hour")
With my 'very sophisticated' testing complete,
I must say that the PSU showed no signs of weakness under pressure.
13 fans and as much drain as I could muster under 'normal' conditions
(normal for the tweaker anyway) the 360W Purepower supply held
tough. And true to the name, the Purepower supply is nearly
silent. In fact, the 60mm fan on the ThermoEngine is louder,
and I can hear the "clicking" of my HD which is mounted
in the HardaCano5 over the PSU, which officially makes it the
quietest PSU in my workshop.
Pros:
Stable power under a decent load
Single fan makes this one quiet PSU
...And still maintains low temps
Priced right at $48.00
Cons:
360W may not be enough power to run sophisticated
lighting
Single fan does not help draw out extra case heat
6 Molex connectors might fall short in some configurations
