Using
it:::…
Here
is the initial working window it starts with.
All
the tools you need are a click away.
Just
below the menu you see a row of buttons labeled, stop, inc,
dec, block and start. These
buttons allow you to effect the processes immediately, by
stopping, starting, blocking a process or by increasing
or decreasing a process priority.
If
you glance over this piece of software it’s hard to initially
discover what else it has to offer over your tasks list
in Windows. Upon
closer inspection though, it becomes clear this software
does offer a lot more than standard Windows tasks list.
Startup viewer
This
little tool allows you to check which services and processes
are loaded during startup.
You
can choose to add or remove it, enable or disable it or
simply print the whole list.
Process Library
You
can view advanced details about a process, simply by selecting
it and pressing the process button.
The
process library is also available in the main screen at
the bottom.
Here
you see the full description and authors of the process.
You
can also check for new updates on this item and add your
own comments to it.
If
there’s no description available, Wintasks will try and
retrieve one from the internal header of the file or you
can report this description missing and get the updated
process library when it’s available.
Block/Allow List
In
this list you can choose to allow or block any processes
or services you want.
It
works quite easily, you choose which list you want to use,
allow or block, type the process name and choose add or
remove process.
As
you can see, the known processes are chosen to be allowed
by default, however you can turn this off.
Windows viewer
Here
you can see exactly what kind of windows a process uses.
These
windows can be visible or hidden.
Some
malicious programs can use a hidden window to perform various
action that you can’t see in normal day to day use.
