Introduction:::...
As
notebooks get faster and more capable so they get hotter
too. Not only because the components create more heat. but
also because the need to cram more of them into ever-smaller
spaces makes it more difficult to cool them efficiently.
After
mentioning I was going to be looking at a couple of notebook
coolers, several people asked me why. Well, if you're not
aware of the potential risks, limited though they are, then
I suggest you have a look at THIS
article.
Of
course this isn't a particularly common occurrence, and
many laptops don't heat up enough to cause quite that level
of damage, but when it comes to electronics a good rule
of thumb is that the cooler they are the happier they are.
The
product, or rather products I have on the bench today come
from ODM experts Jetart. They are virtually identical in
design with the primary difference being that one, the NP3000,
draws the power for its cooling fans entirely from your
notebook's USB ports while the other, the NP5000, is powered
off a mains adaptor and includes a four port powered USB
hub.
The
NP5000 can also have its fans powered by your notebook's
USB port but no cable is supplied to allow you to do so.
I discovered this by using the USB power cable supplied
with the NP3000.
