Athlon XP 2800+, AMD Hit 333!
Author : Wayne Date : 1st October 2002

Introduction :

3DMark2001 SE Build330 :

Time to throw in some more traditional benchmarks starting with the evergreen 3DMark2001SE from MadOnion.com.

3DMark®2001 SE (build 330) is the latest installment in the popular 3DMark series. By combining DirectX®8.1 support with completely new graphics, it continues to provide benchmark results that empower you to make informed hardware assessments. As with all MadOnion.com internet-enabled benchmarks, 3DMark2001 SE has been created in cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide you with the best possible and most reliable set of diagnostic tools.

KT333 vs nForce2

Again we see not only the power of the 2800+ but the advantages gained from running along with the nForce2.

Mercedes Benz Truck Racing :

Not the newest of games but still a very demanding engine all the same, or at least it was until recently.

PCMark 2002 :

PCMark2002 Pro measures and makes a diagnosis of your computer’s performance under home and office usage. It has the capability to test all types of PCs, laptops and workstations using 39 comprehensive performance benchmarking tests. Here we see how the 2800+ running on the nForce 2 compares to the 2600+ running on KT333CE.

Clearly we see a greater pro-rata increase in the memory score when compared to the CPU score.

VulpineGL :

Vulpine is a fairly intensive OpenGL benchmark that it would appear runs faster at 1280x1024 than it does at 800x600! I did re-test and got the same results so either there's a quirk in the benchmark itself or we're CPU/GPU limited. Either way that's an incredible performance for such a demanding 3D Engine.

CodeCreatures :

This rather tough test is far more limited by the power of your graphics card than by the efficiency of your CPU or memory subsystem and even pairing up the 2800+ with the nForce2 does little to raise the performance.
