3DVelocity would like to
thank AMD and
especially Theresa Zimmer for their help and courtesy in providing
this processor for review.

SiSoft Sandra :
The universally known and loved SiSoft Sandra
was used to take a more CPU focused look at the performance.
SiSoft Sandra CPU Arithmetic:

Here we see a boost of approximately 9.5% over
the 1800+ results, a result that belies the meager 140MHz advantage
it has over it.
SiSoft Sandra CPU Multimedia :

Here again we see around 9% gain on the floating
point results and not much less on the integer scores. The Palomino
core is obviously going to scale well as its speed rises, though
of course AMD may up the ante next round with an fsb hike.
POV-Ray :

Results expressed in seconds - Lower is better
Because POV-Ray is almost entirely CPU dependent,
it gives a pretty fair reflection of what's on offer. The XP2000+
was able to shave an impressive 33 seconds off the total render
time when compared to the 1800+, and just as a yardstick, the
Intel Pentium 4 1.7GHz running on an i845 (SDR) took 609 seconds
to render the same scene at the same settings.
